ROSE OF THE SHIRES

Wetherby Y/B - 23/08/08

Corby Town Pigeon Club's 5th young bird race was another exciting race. 8 members sent 105 birds to the race point of Wetherby. Murphy Brothers recieved their 3rd young bird race win in a row this week. The brothers' winning pigeon was the same pigeon that won their first young bird race for them; the blue chequer hen was doing 1287. Coming 2nd was O Reilly with an original Finnie and Bourke breed hen doing 1262. Mr and Mrs Stanton grabbed up 3rd place with a Van Reet hen doing 1261. O Reilly took 4th with another Finnie and Bourke hen doing 1258. Mr and Mrs Stanton took 5th with another Van Reet hen doing 1256. I Fairborn took 6th place doing 1230 with a Van Reet hen. Looks like this week it was the ladies doing all the work for us Corby fliers. On bank holiday Monday in August, Jan and Bridget Czarnota held a garden party for a few members in our club. Those of us who attended would like to thank Jan and his lovely wife for the brilliant food and fantastic wine. Thanks again Jan and Bridget.

Wellingborough North Road. Out of WNR 9 members sent 127 birds to Wetherby race point. They were liberated at 10.45 in a west wind. Clocking in for 1st and 2nd club was A. Neville. Due to Alan "Pensioner" Neville not feeling up to par, Pete Taylor was in charge. Get well soon Alan. "Pensioner" Neville's 1st club was his cheq hen, bred by Dave Boxford. This hen's dam won a lot of races over a 2yr spell, which included a 2nd Fed as a Y/B. His 2nd club was his cheq w/f. bred from a Dave Boxford hen, and an Albert Farrow cock bird. A.Johnson/Son took 3rd club, "Pensioner" Neville just pipped him for 2nd club. Andy "Do it All" Johnson and young son Dennis. took 3rd club with a van Johnson blue pied hen. The sire was "Son of Herman" gifted from WF Line/Son/G.Son (him in doors). The dam was a gifted Van Reet bred by Brian Greenman. Mr & Mrs Smith and Tommy netted 4th club with their blue cheq hen. The nest mate to this hen won Retford (2) this season. The sire to this pair won the combine from Fraserburgh. The sire and dam are from Neil Burt bloodline.

I think you will agree it was a much better race this week. Returns were pretty good at WNR, and I hope with you all too. Weather's suposed to be in the 20s for the week-end, we can but hope!!

Well guys and gals, take care until next week, keep the B.B.Q handy - you never know your luck. Bye for now, Sue and Nathan
