THE SMDF RACE TEAM COME GOOD AGAIN.
Hello all.
As normal in the Staffs Moorlands Fed this year another good race was had with good returns from a good turnout - here at Packmoor 12 members sent 359 birds.
Friday night everything went pretty well except for a hiccup on one of the Unikon clocks you would think that after all these years with ETS you would know all there is to know about them, well as we found out a new problem arose that we had not come across before. Anyway there is not much that our clock setter does not know about ETS systems so with some help from Kath the problem was solved and all the birds were basketed and sealed with plenty of time to spare.
Saturday morning turned out to be a lovely morning with blue skies so an early lib I thought but no, as time went on and the phone kept ringing asking if the birds were out and the blue skies started to disappear to be replaced with overcast skies and a few showers. At just after 12pm the call came through the birds had been libbed and with the mist and drizzle getting worse my thoughts “were we have copped one here”. At
1-30pm at Packmoor it was bad weather-wise but all of a sudden the rain stopped and blue skies started to appear and by 2pm when the birds started to arrive home it was a lovely day. So the race team got it right again.
Saturday night at the clubhouse most members had good returns and said what a good race it had been. The result turned out to be close with some members saying he will win, others saying such and such a body will win, so until the result came out of the computer nobody was sure. In the end it was Bailey & Proctor who took the red card with a little hen that has been coming well for them but I don't have any information on the bird (secret import I think), so we move on to second place which is the Lambrechts of Dave Jones from Plylon View Lofts, third place goes to Bailey & Proctor then it was the Dave Jones show with is Lambrechts taking 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th places.
