NORTH ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP CLUB

NRCC Thurso 2017
After an old bird season of testing races, the North Road Championship Club saved the toughest to the last the PJ Lofts-sponsored race from Thurso.
Liberated on Friday, the birds faced a strong headwind for the whole of the flight home, and only 17 of the 150 competing members who sent 1134 birds, verified on-the-day pigeons. Approximately 80 never verified at all.
The provisional winners are the in-form Burgh-le-Marsh loft of Pete and Teri Rodgers, with hard-working NRCC chairman, Brian Garnham and wife Angie
in second position with the first of their three day birds.

Section A committee representative Paul Crooks is in third spot.
Race secretary Ian Bellamy reports on the race as follows:
“The NRCC has had a very hard old bird season with Thurso probably being the hardest.
“With no birds making over 1000ypm, it was going to be the fit distance pigeons that would come to the fore and, looking at the provisional result, many top NRCC
flyers could be found near the top.
“The first three birds to be verified were put on the provisional result by the fanciers themselves and, after another good hour, there were no birds verified on the libline service.
“I rang secretary Ray Knight to do a dummy verification via the libline service to make sure it was working.
“I feel special mention this time is due to all the birds that made it home on the day
“Buckle and Carter had the furthest flying bird on the day at over 476 miles.”
Provisional section winners are:
Section A - P A Crooks.

Section C - Mr & Mrs P & T Rodgers.
Section E - G V & W Britton.
