Hello folks,
North Liverpool Federation’s tenth race of 2014 once more took place from Falaise in conjunction with the North West Combine channel programme. The convoy were liberated in a light north east wind at 8am on Saturday 14th June. The weekend was to prove incredibly difficult as can be judged by the variation in winning velocities, but this has also proven to be the case for most organisations racing out of France. While many brave and determined pigeons managed to meet the demands of the route and weather conditions to make it through and reach their home lofts, there were also many quality and experienced pigeons sent well prepared that found conditions on the day a real challenge.

Terry Snagg’s team have hit top form as they take 1st, 2nd and 4th positions at the Edge Hill (10/52) on 1156, 1143 and 1090. The winner is a yearling blue widower bred out of Terry’s own bloodlines. Second in the clock is last week’s winner, a yearling cheq widower taking his first card and he is bred out of a Koopman cock gifted by good friends Southern & McCrudden of Skelmersdale when paired to a hen of his own bloodlines. Third timer is another yearling widower this time a pencil cock bred out of Terry’s own bloodlines. Jimmy Melia takes 3rd position with a 6 year old blue cock on 1095. Congratulations Terry, great flying.

Joe Pearman & Joe Rooney clock the only 3 pigeons in the result at the Crosby. The winner is a yearling Van Reet x Soontjen widower. Sire was bred by Team Heague while the dam is Joe Pearman’s old No 1 hen out of Gary Daykin stock and she has been responsible for many winners. Second timer is a 2 year old Busschaert widower that has scored previously including from Ancis with the Liverpool Classic Club / MNFC. Third timer is a yearling Soontjen widower out the 5x1st cock which also scored 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th NL Fed. Thanks Joe and congratulations mate.

Vin Maguire takes 1st and 2nd positions at the Kirkdale (6/26) with two widowers on 1042 and 968. The winner is a 4 year old that has scored previously but was always beaten by loft mates and he has also proven his worth as a breeder as he is the sire of John Jones good cock which has done a lot of winning the last 2 seasons. Second timer is a yearling bred by Jimmy Bauress & John Murray and he is taking his first card. John Jones takes 3rd position with a yearling widower taking his first prize on 924. Tony Owens takes 4th position on 906 with a pigeon bred by Tommy Hibbs that has scored before. The Kirkdale lads would like to congratulate Joe Elder on topping the Liverpool Amalgamation. Thomas Dobbs wins again at the Princes Park, also taking 4th position. The winner is a blue Vandenabeele hen whose parents were both bred by bred by John Blundell. The sire is out of John’s 2010 North West Combine winner and purchased by Dobbsy at a fundraising auction while the dam was a gift bird. Second timer is Whitetail a cheq hen bred by Harry Davis which has scored this year and was 3rd club Niort and also clocked on the day from Bordeaux with the MNFC in 2013. Billy Dooley, Paddy Rowan and Sid Chapman take 2nd position with a Van Loon x Van Lint. Sire was a gift bird from Steven Goulding while the dam was bred by Louella. John Devine takes 3rd position with a pigeon bred out of his own bloodlines which has previously won from Fougeres and scored at Niort as well as taking other cards. Thanks Tom.

Mick Mulally takes 1st position at the Litherland (11/113). The winner is a 2 year old cock whose sire was purchased at Lier Market while the dam is a Wildemeersch via Davey Spackman stock. Mr & Mrs Ted Davin senior & Jock McCafferty take 2nd position with a 2 year old widower out of Ted Davin junior’s Lewis line and this cock has scored previously. Joe Perry & Son take 3rd and 4th positions with two widowers of Steven Goulding‘s bloodlines. The first timer is a 2 year old that has been on the fed sheet before, followed by a yearling. (What a great season Joe has had with stock from Steven - Ted) Thanks Ted, hope you get them working back in for you mate.

Rimmer & Cleminson head the field once more at the Riverside (5/21) also taking 3rd position on 1108 and 1006. The winner is a Willy Jacobs widower bred by Warren, Son & Garrity and he is known as the Spot the Ball cock as he was won on a spot the ball ticket in aid of club funds. Second timer is a Walter Docx widower bred by Charlie McArdle and Terry Archbold. Peter and Davey would like to thank Christine for all her help with the birds. A & JJ Medway take 2nd position on 1079, no further details to hand. Mr & Mrs J O’Brien and Son take 4th position on 908 with a widower bred out of Woodlands Farm Stud bloodlines. Eddie Bradley takes 1st positions at the Bootle (6/34) on 1132 with a yearling widower bred by Liddle & Field of Banks near Southport. John & Tony Porter take 2nd position on 1129 with last week’s runner-up and it is a widower of Woodlands Farm Stud bloodlines. John Warren, Son & Marty Garrity take 3rd position on 1103 with a Dereck Jones of Wrexham bred widower that takes the 2nd lot of pools and club nom. RSMF Lofts take 4th position with a yearling widower on 906. John & Tony Porter win the Falaise Averages on 1336.311 with Eddie Bradley runner-up on 1334.977.

Jimmy Foley takes 1st position at the Pirrie (8/67). Jimmy clocks his good 4 year old cheq Janssen cock, a previous 2 times winner of 1st NL Fed from Carentan and Niort and he is out of John & Gary Hartless and Paul Howard‘s Galaxy bloodlines crossed into stock obtained from Ste Williamson and John Murphy. Tommy & Karen Hibbs take 2nd position with a pigeon of Foxwwod Lofts origins. The dam topped the fed as a young bird. John & Gary Hartless and Paul Howard take 3rd position with a Malcolm Taylor of the North East pigeon. Tommy Woods takes 4th position with a pigeon bred by Tommy Hibbs that has scored previously. Mick McDonald takes 1st and 2nd positions at the Netherton on 1074 and 1025. The winner is a yearling widower out of Mick‘s good pied cock a winner of 1st club Portland and 1st club 1st NL Fed Fougeres. Second timer is a latebred Jan Aarden bred by good friend Harry Davies out of his Louella stock. Robbie Kershaw takes 3rd position with a homebred yearling Lambrecht taking its first card on 924. John & Alan Johnson and Darren Pattison take 1st position once more at the Spellow on 1094. The winner is a 2 year old widower bred from a son of Tommy Craven’s North west Combine winner when paired to a Charlie McArdle and Terry Archbold Vandenabeele and previous turns include 3rd club, 10th NL Fed Fougeres in 2013. Roy Reid takes 2nd and 3rd positions on 1090 and 1078. First timer is a son of Roy‘s No 1 son of norman Bridegewater‘s 18x1st cock when paired to a daughter of Jones & Thomas the Policewoman a 1st NW Combine and NW Combine Gold Medal winner. Second timer is a son of pigeon bred by Dean Cartmell from a hen responsible for over 50x1st club and 7x1st fed when paired to Roy’s No 1 hen, a daughter of Frankie and De 60 the golden pair of Frank Beck of Royal Oak Lofts and they are responsible for over 100x1st club and 28x1st fed. O’Leary and Smith take victory at the Taylors Arms (14/189) on 1215 with a 3 year old Roger Maris wiodower through Micky Lennon of Nuneaton and Ste Smith stock. This cock has previous with a 1st club Messac and 3rd club Niort across the pond, plus plenty of cards on the land. The lads also take 3rd position with a yearling widowhood cock via Ste Smith and Eddie Naylor bloodlines. Mick Nixon junior maintains his extremely consistent 2014 form taking 2nd this week on 1173 with a Charlie McArdle and Terry Archbold bred Walter Docx hen which has previously taken 3rd club, 6th NL Fed this season on 1158. Brian Halsall takes 4th position on 1157 with a latebred yearling hen. Sire and dam were both bred by Jacob Poortvliet. Thanks Jim.

John & Fran McDowell take 1st, 2nd and 4th positions at the Vauxhall with a yearling widower out of a son of Jimmy & Paul Weeder‘s Junior a winner of 6x1st when paired to a Huijbrecht hen out of the Oak Villa cock and Legend bloodlines, both parents have scored previously. Second timer is last week’s runner up and it is a yearling Vandenabeele hen. Third timer is another Vandenabeele, this time a 2 year old widower that had to be nursed back to health after a hawk attack in 2013. Sire is a grandson of Eisenhower, dam is through Golden Gaby. AJ Hawkins and Son take 2nd and 3rd positions on 1128 and 1124. Steve & Debbie Walsh take 4th position on 1109.
