Greater Distance Single Bird N.F.C.
TARBES
by Rose Wills
The club's third nomination race was from Tarbes with the NFC where 24 members entered their single entries. 1st Open and 1st Sec A went to Lloyd and Kelly of Steventon flying 583mls with their 3yr old cheq hen “Miss Maurice”. This hen was bought at the Wantage breeder/buyer sale in 2005 and was bred by Maurice Hull from Stanford in the Vale She certainly is no newcomer to being in the results for Eammon and Frank being 7th sec 423rd Open St Nazaire in 2006, 5th Sec 169th Open Tarbes 2007 and besides being 1st sec 4th Open Tarbes this year she has now added being 2nd Sec 4th Open Saintes. She has won over £6,000 to date certainly so a very good investment.

2nd Open and 1st Sec B was W J Bresnahan of Liverpool flying 722mls with “John Joseph”, a 2yr old cheq Van Wanroy cock which goes back to Kliene Donker The sire was the Disqualified Cock from Keith Fenwick and the dam has always been stock and was bred by Ponderosa This is another bird that is no newcomer to being in the results and this year has been 88th West Sec 685th Open MNFC Falaise 6,431 birds, then 2 weeks later 28th West Sec 443rd Open MNFC Tours 3,214 birds, followed by 1st Sec L 13th Open Tarbes NFC 1st Eccles 2 Bird Specialist Club Tarbes, picking up some decent pool and prize money as well. Bill said he would like to thank Keith Fenwick, John Hartless & Family (The t-shirt was brilliant), Ronnie Dodd and Patrick & Thomas Devine for helping with the new loft.

3rd Open 2nd Sec A was K J Palmer from Swindon flying 582mls with a 6yr old grizzle cock (Des Coulter “Cleo” lines). Keith had been racing him on widowhood up until the longer races where he had him paired up.

4th Open 3rd Sec A was A Cowan of Southampton flying 531mls with a 2yr old pied cock which is a De Klak from Brian & Cornie Long x with a Tony special. Tony was telling me he has been a very consistent bird for him and has always been on the day, and he sent him on his own aggravation system.
5th Open 4th Sec A went to Mr & Mrs Rhodes of Aylesham but unfortunately I have not been able to obtain any details on this bird.
6th Open 5th Sec A went to P Stone of West Drayton. That's 3 of the 4 results Paul has been in with the GDSBNFC being the only bird from BBC Palamos and 2nd BICC Barcelona. This time he clocked a 3yr old dk hen bred and raced by Paul. She has had 2 minor positions in the BICC national races and prior to going to Tarbes flew Falaise and Alencon with the BICC. She was bred by Jeff Byles of Hayes from his 1st Sec 3rd Open Palamos hen when she was paired to a son of the very good Jimmy Shepherd stock cock that was sire of 1st, 3rd, 21st and 22nd BICC Barcelona and 10th Open Palamos and grandsire of 1st GDSBNFC Barcelona. The dam is a direct daughter of the above stock cock when she was paired to a full sister of the sire of J Nicholson & Son's Barcelona winner “Sarah” and both those birds are from Paul's good racing cock 77903, the sire of his 2007 GDSBNFC Barcelona winner.
Just one more race to go now for the club with the BICC Tarbes so if you are in the result and I haven't been able to get in contact with you would you please contact me with your birds details asap.
