BICC PAU 2010

First race for the club was from Pau with the BICC where 11 members nominated their birds.

1st Open 1st Sec A was Alastair Muir from Abinger Hammer with his 3yr old cheq hen, who is through his own family. Last year she flew LSECC Tarbes in race time then was 19th BICC Perpignan  She is a granddaughter of Alastair's Bordeaux Classic wineer and his Pau Smash hen (9th LSECC Pau and many other channel postions) on one side and of his hen that won the Surrey Cup from BBC Palamos and also 16th & 20th LSECC Pau on the other side. She had one preparation race from NFC St Malo and arrived at 5.15 on the second morning and was then sent Pau sitting 12 days. Her dam 80822 was an excellent racing hen who was killed by a hawk as a 3yr old; in the 3 yrs she raced she was 51st NFC Fougeres & 96th LSECC Guernsey as a yb and as a yearling 74th BICC Tours & 136th BICC Alencon, then at 2yrs old she was 126th NFC Bordeaux, 150th LSECC Morpeth & 165th BBC Ingleton.

2nd Open  2nd Sec A were Padfield Family of Cwmtillery with their 2yr old cheq cock who is 54th Open BICC and 6th North Sec. This is a Jan Aarden Wim Muller,  Sire G-Son of Padfield's Perfection 1st, 3rd, 23rd & 39th WSRN Pau, also G-Sire is OLD 89, a fantastic racing and breeding Wim Muller Jan Aarden. Dam is G-Daughter of Old 89 again and also G-Daughter of the famous Z Ring cock, sire of Albert and other  winners too many to list   Dave has been racing pigeons for 50yrs; he originally flew with dad and brothers Vince and Dave but now flys in partnership with Vince.  This cock was on roundabout then paired for Pau sitting 10 days and hopper fed  Prior to going to Pau he had Vire with the Welsh South Road National.  Dave said he came back in excellent condition but tired and this will be his last race for this year.

3rd Open 3rd Sec A is R Pearmain & Son of Wickford with a 6yr old blue cheq hen. She has been to 9 BICC Internationals and has been in the result 5 times. When I spoke to Steve he was very pleased to have timed in and as he says getting birds that fly the internationals from extreme distances are hard to find. I'd like to say well done as they only joined the club this year and this was the first race they had sent to

BBC/BICC BARCELONA 2010

2nd race for the Club was from Barcelona with 18 members nominating their birds  This turned out to be a difficult race. 1st Open 1st Sec A was SR & WH Knox of Tyler Hill with a 7yr old grizzle cock. This was his 3rd race from Barcelona where he had been 26th & 42nd Open. Bill says he has always been a very consistent bird and has flown the channel 23 times including Tarbes 570mls and Pau 560mls. He would also have been 3rd GDSB last year but he omitted to verify him  His pedigree contains all the well know Kirkpatricks - Fenchan Lass, Lee Faith, Virgo, Man Friday, Solway King, Stranraer Simon with additional genes from the Barcelona Miracle, the only pigeon to have won the Barcelona International twice although this was 6 generations ago.  His son was 1st Sec 5th Open Tarbes this year and last year LSECC 3rd sec 14th Open Tarbes

2nd Open 2nd Sec A was J. Wills of Frimley with a 2yr old (old ring on) cheq cock. This is from John's old family of distance birds and this was only the 3rd race he has had  All his G-parents have been 1st Open BICC for John.
