Saturday August 1st and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Tewkesbury and the pigeons were liberated at 09-40 in a west south west wind.
In Holbrook 7 members sent 257 birds with B & S Stone getting a podium finish taking the first three positions with two Cheq hens doing 1702 & 1701 followed by a blue cock doing 1696 to take third. Taking fourth was Mr & Mrs D Stone with a pied cock doing 1648.

In Osmaston Park Homing Society 14 members sent 271 birds with Shenton Brothers ( Norman & Ron ) getting the red card with a Cheq cock doing 1666 followed by Dave Waddington in second & third with two hens doing 1664 & 1661.Fourth position went to Paul & Lynda Todd with a blue hen doing 1644.

In Etwall & District Flying Club 8 members sent 133 birds with new member Kevin Southall continuing to dominate taking the top two positions with his inform team of youngsters. Both his pigeons were cocks doing 1617 & 1606.In third was A.Peach & Son with a Cheq cock doing 1561 followed by Mick Leszczyszak in fourth with a blue hen doing 1548.

The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Upper Heyford racing old birds & young birds. The pigeons were liberated at 07-50 in a west south west wind. In Kilburn Club 2 members sent 26 youngsters for their young bird race with Ken Foulke taking first & second with a red hen doing 1585 and a dk/hen doing 1584.In third & fourth was Stuart Wainwright with a dk/cock doing 1572 and a Cheq hen doing 1531.
In the old bird race 4 members sent 43 birds and making it a double was Ken Foulke taking the top two spots with a two year old slatey hen doing 1582 taking the red card followed by a yearling Cheq hen doing 1563 in second. In third & fourth was S & H W Hall with a two year old Cheq cock doing 1551 and a yearling blue cock doing 1547.
Saturday August 8th and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Hullavington. The pigeons were liberated at 07-40 in a north east wind. This turned out to be a very difficult race with the leading pigeons into Derby doing just over 40 mph.
In Etwall & District Flying Club 10 members sent 178 birds with A.Peach & Son making a clean sweep. Their winner was a Cheq cock doing 1214 followed by three hens doing 1200,1180 & 1168.
In Holbrook 7 members sent 180 birds with Dave Stone taking the red card with a dk/Cheq hen doing 1202 This was followed by a b/w/f cock doing 1174 to take third.

In second doing 1188 were Mather & Haywood with a dk/cock with Trevor Jennings in fourth with a ch/w/f hen doing 1171.

Kevin Mathews who had a good days racing from the first Tewkesbury race taking the first 11 positions in his club ( Holbrook ) and taking the first nine positions in the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation and to top it all retired from work on the same weekend. Osmaston Park Homing Society had a good turn out with 18 members sending 348 birds. Taking the red card for the second week running were ( Shenton Brothers ) Ron & Norman. Their winner was a Cheq pied cock doing 1190.4 also winning the clubs gold ring race, this was followed by a Cheq cock doing 1190 to take second. In third was Tom Chadwick with a blue hen doing 1146 with Glew & O.Donnell in fourth doing 144 with a blue hen.

Libby Johnson Osmaston Park Homing Society newest and youngest member Libby is waiting to basket her pigeons for the Tewkesbury race. She should get a good schooling with her pigeons as mum Sharon & Dad Daniel are Midlands National winners. Good luck Libby.
