Saturday April 15th and the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Windrush for their opening race of the 2017 season with 11 clubs sending 2065 birds which were liberated at 10-40 in a north west wind.
Taking the first four positions in the fed result was F & T Salt Bros & Son who fly in the Railway Inn. Their first two pigeons were two yearling blue cocks doing 1527 & 1516.3 followed by a two year old blue hen doing 1516.1 & yearling blue hen doing 1506.Fifth & sixth fed were also Railway Inn members Dave Willis & Family with a two year old mealy cock doing 1505 to take fifth and a two year old blue cock doing 1502.7 to take sixth. Seventh fed went to Ralph Jepson of Selston with a two year old hen doing 1502 followed by D Hadfield Selston also with a two year old hen doing 1501 to take eighth. M & L Herbert of Poolsbrook were ninth with a yearling cheq cock doing 1499 with Jepson & Bennett of Poolsbrook in tenth with a mealy hen doing 1497.
