Saturday July 23rd saw the start of the 2016 young bird programme for both the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation and the Derby Burton & District South Road federation.

 

The Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Cheltenham and the pigeons were liberated at 10-00 with no wind given. The first pigeon into Derby was a dark cheq cock which was doing 1451 which once again gave Mick Stone the red card in Osmaston Park Homing Society making this his 7th 1st prize this season. Taking the next three positions was S & H W Hall with a cheq hen doing 1427 followed by a blue hen doing 1425.6 and a cheq cock doing 1425.4.

 

In Ilkeston Bulls Homing Society Mr & Mrs John Dowd made it a clean sweep taking the first four positions doing 1440,1438,1432 & 1417.

 

In Etwall & District Flying Club it was also a clean sweep for Dave Williams & Son with a cheq w/f cock doing 1405 to take the red card followed by a red hen doing 1390 then a mealy hen doing 1388 and finally a cheq hen doing 1363.

In Derby South Road Flying Club new starter to racing Simon Woolley broke his novice in his first race taking the red card with a blue cock doing 1260.The next three positions went to Brailsford & Doyle with a cheq hen doing 1230 followed by a blue cock doing 1187 then a grizzle hen doing 1146.

 

The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Upper Hayford and were liberated at 07-45 in a light south west wind. In Derby Premier it was L.D.S. Johnson who took all the honours with a blue hen doing 1406 to take the red card followed by a cheq hen doing 1391 then a red cock doing 1229 then a blue cock doing 1212.
