The third race of the 2026 season for the Wrexham Federation saw the birds released at 9am on Saturday 2nd May from Bath in no wind, it seemed some of the birds made hard work of this one, with some empty perches at end of the day.

59 members sent 1604 birds.

4 mins 23 seconds covered the first 40 birds in the fed. I always like to look at number of yearlings on fed sheet and there was 25 of the 40 this week, which was only bettered once last season.

Well, done Derrick Jones, Llay on topping the fed this week. Not much that Derrick hasn’t won in the pigeon sport.

Llay HS saw Derrick Jones winning with a Yearling that scored 38th (607 birds) in the fed last year. Second club G & G. Williams & Son, Gary and Gaz timed a 3-year-old mealy roundabout hen, Sire Lambrecht ‘Red Rossi' bred by Campbell and Curren (Ireland) x their own Ceuster ‘West Bay Girl' as the name suggests won many club and fed prizes from West Bay. Lambrecht x Ceusters. She won from Hullavington last year, scored in fed 2nd (1495 birds) and 15th (399 birds). Third and fourth is Phil Bellis, first in the clock a Yearling widowhood cock, Vince Clayton x Rod Sparkes lines. Last year scored 37th (1270 birds) in the fed. Fourth club a 2-year-old widowhood cock, Vince Clayton x Rod Sparkes lines. Last year scored 28th (1547 birds) in the fed.

Horse And Jockey saw J, I & C. Millward take the win, John and Charlie timed a Yearling cheq cock, Lambrecht both parents from Rod Sparkes. Brother to multiple fed winners, He took 3rd club last year and 32nd (607 birds) in the fed. Last week he was 40th (1523 birds) in fed (photo included). Second and third club GM Connah & Maidment, Graham and Barry timed a Yearling light cheq, Van den Bulck x Herman Ceusters. The sire a gift off J, I & C. Millward and is Sire to their great '737' who was 10th in the 2025 RPRA Sprint Awards and 2nd in my unofficial coefficient table last year. The yearling timed this week was not raced as a young bird. Next in the clock a 2-year-old dark cheq cock, De Kruif x Hooymans x Herman Cuester. Won minor positions in 2025 from Hereford and Wincanton. Started this season well with 2nd club, 27th (1229 birds) fed and 3rd club, 35th (1523 birds) fed. Fourth club Zak Williams & Grandad, Zak and Derek timed a 2-year-old blue hen, Herman Cuester. Sire bred by Taylor & Rigby, Telford a grandson of Max (Dream Pair) and Dam bred by Derek Flowers, Pontypool, a Granddaughter of the 'Jo Jo Pair'. This hen won 3 x1st in Shotton club. Last week scored 2nd club, 26th (1523 birds) fed. She won the opening race in Shotton club, scoring 7th NEWWW Fed.

Wrexham and District HS saw Steve Burgess taking the top three positions. The winner is a 2-year-old blue widowhood cock, Janssen x Geerinckx. Won 4x1st. As a young bird was 25th (1233 birds) fed. In 2025 scored 6th (1495 birds) in the fed. Started 2026 strongly with 2nd club, 40th (1229 birds) fed and 1st club, 1st (1523 birds) fed. Second club is a 2-year-old widowhood cock, May Pigeons x Ceuster Widowhood Cock. A winner of 4x1st. In 2024 this bird scored 2nd Club Hullavington and 20th (874 birds) in Fed. 2025 this bird was amazing scoring in fed 8th (1547 birds), 9th (1583 birds), 3rd (851 birds), 5th (971 birds), 6th (917 birds), 31st (887 birds) , 18th (751 birds) and 11th (399 birds).  Last week scored 3rd club, 10th (1523 birds) in the fed. Third club is a 3-year-old Lambrecht Widowhood Cock, Winner in the past of 1x1st, 6x2nd, 4x3rd, 1x4th, in 2024 this bird took following fed positions 10th (1212 birds), 6th (859 birds), 17th(833 birds), 17th (659 birds) and 31st (360 birds) and in 2025 13th (1547 birds), 37th (1456 birds), 34th (851 birds), 19th (971 birds) , 4th (917 birds), 15th (791 birds) and 29th (399 birds).  What a superb pigeon (WJ). Fourth club M & J. Thomas, Mike timed a Yearling widowhood, Ceuster x Darren Roberts.

Cefn Mawr HS saw Gary Williams take the win and fourth, first in the clock a Yearling blue hen, Sire Alan Atkinson stock and Dam from Darren Ede. As a pair bred Gary's Wrexham open winner in 2024 from Brighton when its nestmate came to take 10th. This week's timer took a 4th club as YB. Scored 3rd club, 5th Fed (1523 birds) last week. Fourth club a Yearling blue cock, bred from a Pat Helliwell cock who won for Gary and had many club and fed prizes when paired to an Alan Atkinson hen who won several prizes before returning home with a broken wing. Took 3rd and 4th club as a YB as well as 5th Wrexham open from Brighton. Already this year scored in the fed the following 9th (1229 birds) and 4th (1523 birds). Second club Stuart Davenport timing a 2-year-old dark cheq roundabout cock, Van den Bulck. A previous prize winner. Third club Mark Jones timing a 2-year-old blue hen.

Bagillt HS saw Hewitt Bros Jnr Lofts take the win, Jack, Harry, and Rhys timed a Yearling blue hen, bred by Tom Hewitt (the lad’s brother) from his Macaloney birds. The hen was 4th club last week. Was unraced as a young bird (photo included). Second club Pete Hughes timing a 3-year-old blue hen. In opening race she was 3rd club, 33rd fed (1229 birds) and last week 2nd club. Third club the Chip Shop Boys Phil and Neil Bates timing a 2-year-old blue cock, from an Alfie Hawthorne Cock of Olympic Rachel lines x Richardson, Son, and Young Hen of Lovely Lesley lines. This cock was top of my unofficial coefficient table last year. The ’27’ cock in the fed in 2025 was 1st (1334 birds), 20th (1583 bird), 5th (1456 birds),10th (971 birds), 9th (917 birds), and 4th (887 birds). In the fed in 2024 he was 2nd (882 birds) and 22nd (874 birds). His brother topped the fed in 2025. In the opening race he was 1st club, 21st (1229 birds) in fed. Fourth club C. Hewitt & Son, Tom timed a Yearling cheq hen, unraced a young bird.

Hewitt Bros Jnr Lofts, Bagillt HS Winner and 26th Fed, 1604 birds

Brymbo HS saw Steve Jones taking the win and third and fourth. The winner a 2-year-old cock, Lambrecht x Leo Hermans. Very consistent bird but a bad trapper, half-brother to winners. In 2024 scored 19th (882 birds) in the fed. Third club a 2-year-old blue yearling cock, Leo Hermans x Gaby Vandenabeele. He won 4th in the YB Gold Ring race from Brighton. The brother to this was 2nd in the Breeder Buyer 2023 also taking 1st in the open race. This cock won 2x1st last year scoring 12th (917 birds) and 6th (751 birds) in the fed. Fourth club a Yearling blue hen, Best Kittle bloodlines. Second club Lloyd Brothers, Rob and Tim timed a Yearling cheq cock, homebred.

Ellesmere HS saw Andrew Lawley taking the first three, the winner a 4-year-old cheq cock, 75% Gaby of Shadow bloodlines and 25% Galaxy Van Loon. In 2025 he was twice x 2nd club Hullavington taking 39th (971 birds) and 20th (887 birds) in the fed. Second club a 2-year-old blue cock, sire is a G/Son of Steve Windsors ‘42’ cock x Macaloney Ceusters x Gaby. In 2025 took a 1st and 2nd club, 14th (1456 birds) and 38th (851 birds) in the fed. Third club a Yearling blue hen, Leo Hermans x Ceusters x Van Den Bulck. As a young bird she took 3rd, 4th and 2nd club (when winning the club 2 bird). Fourth club P&A. Howell, Hoot timed a 2-year-old blue white flight hen, bred by R&D. Hunt. Took 4th club as a YB and was 4th club last week.

Rhyl saw Mike Price take the win plus Third and fourth. The winner a Yearling roundabout hen, Willem de Bruijn purchased from Paul Pym of Exeter as a kit. Taking its first prize. Third club a Yearling roundabout hen, bred by Lloyd Westbury. Fourth club a 3-year-old roundabout cock, bred by Eric Rose, Chester. Second club Gwynn Jones timing a yearling.

Deganwy saw Malcolm Jones take the win timing a 2-year-old, Verheye x Cosmin Talas. Previous winner. Second, third and fourth club are D. L & E. Jones timing a Yearling, 4-year-old, and another yearling.

Opening race from Bath saw Gary Williams take the win timing a 3-year-old blue hen. In 2025 scored 4th club Blandford, 11th (1090 birds) fed. Second, Third and fourth was Hughes Brothers, David and Mal timed a Yearling blue hen, Van den Bulck bred by Richard James of Ellesmere. Next in the clock a 2-year-old blue hen, Janssen bred from own stock. Fourth club a Yearling blue hen, Bred from stock from Andrew Lawley.

The second race was from Frome. This saw Stuart Davenport take the first 4 positions. First a 2-year-old blue roundabout hen, Herman Ceusters. Prize winner last season. Second a 3-year-old blue roundabout cock, Herman Ceusters. Prize winner last season including 17th (751 birds) in Wrexham Fed. Third a 2-year-old blue roundabout cock, Herman Ceusters. Previous prize winner, including 5th (751 birds) in Wrexham Fed last year. Fourth a 2-year-old cheq roundabout hen, again a Herman Ceuster. Previous prize winner, including 2nd (751 birds) in Wrexham Fed last year.

The third race (and bringing us up to date) was again from Frome. The winner also taking 5th (1342 birds) Shropshire fed is Gary Williams timing 2-year-old pied hen Gary’s Gert Heylen bloodlines from Stock from Joe McGough of Lancaster. She has previously won 1x1st, 2x2nds, 1x4th and 2x5th clubs. In the Wrexham fed in 2024 she was 8th (874 birds) and 27th (1096 birds) and last year 7th (769 birds). Her nestmate topped the Fed. The parents bred at least 8 winners for Gary, a granddaughter of this pair won £1200 for Gary's uncle (Bill Edwards and Pat Harris) in the Premier 100 club. Second club taking 13th (1342 birds) Shropshire fed is Roberts & Davenport, Barry and Chris timed a 4-year-old blue pied hen. Third and Fourth club Hughes Brothers, David and Mal timed a Yearling cheq hen, Van den Bulck bred by Richard James of Ellesmere. Fourth club a 2-year-old blue hen, Janssen bred from own stock.

Chirk Central HS fly in the North Est Wales & West Wirral Federation.

This week’s race was from Bath. Taking the First and Second was Gary Williams, so taking an impressive Hatrick on club wins for the day. The winner is a Yearling cheq cock, this is one of Gary's favourites. The Sire from Gert Heylen stock was a double winner and topped Shropshire fed. But was dropped on a training toss at start of this season. The Dam from Alan Atkinson stock who won several minor positions. The nest mate to the winner won 2x3rd and 5th (760 birds) in Wrexham Fed. Second club a 3-year-old hen, both parents are Alan Atkinson stock birds. Very consistent scoring 1st (1008 birds) in Wrexham Fed and 2nd NEWWW Fed. Taking third and fourth club Talent & Westbury, Martin timed a Yearling and a 3-year-old.
