Now the season is underway the weeks will pass by so fast.
The second race of the 2026 season for the Wrexham Federation saw the birds released at 10am on Saturday 25th April from Hereford in no wind, a good race was had and hopefully everyone had good returns.
51 members sent 1523 birds.

1 min 53 seconds covered the first 40 birds in the fed. I always like to look at number of yearlings on fed sheet and there was 18 of the 40 this week matching last week.
Well, done Steve Burgess on a superb result, timing some very consistent birds.
Wrexham and District HS saw Steve Burgess taking the top three positions. The winner is a 2-year-old blue cock, Janseen x Geerinckx. Won 3x1st, 1x2nd and 1x4th. As a young bird was 25th (1233 birds) fed. In 2025 scored 6th (1495 birds) in the fed. Last week was 2nd club, 40th (1229 birds) fed. Second club is a 2-year-old Widowhood cock who was 2nd Hullavington as a YB. He is a Ceusters x Janssen bred in the stock loft. In 2025 won 2x1st and 3rd taking following fed positions 23rd (1456 birds), 14th (851 birds), 40th (769 birds) and 8th (751 birds). Third club is 2-year-old widowhood cock, May Pigeons x Cuester Widowhood Cock. A winner of 4x1st. In 2024 this bird scored 2nd Club Hullavington and 20th (874 birds) in Fed. 2025 this bird was amazing scoring in fed 8th (1547 birds), 9th (1583 birds), 3rd (851 birds), 5th (971 birds), 6th (917 birds), 31st (887 birds), 18th (751 birds) and 11th (399 birds). Fourth club M & J.Thomas, Mike timed a Yearling widowhood cock, bred in stock loft from birds off R&S.Lewis, Brymbo. Last year scored 34th (252 birds) in fed.
Cefn Mawr HS saw Mark Jones win with a 2-year-old pied cock. Second and Third club is Gary Williams, Gary’s first in the clock is a Yearling blue cock, bred from a Pat Helliwell cock who won for Gary and had many club and fed prizes when paired to a Alan Atkinson hen who won several prizes before returning home with a broken wing. Took 3rd and 4th club as a YB as well as 5th Wrexham open from Brighton. Last week scored 9th (1229 birds) in the fed. Next in the clock is a Yearling blue hen, Sire Alan Atkinson stock and Dam from Darren Ede. As a pair bred Gary's Wrexham open winner in 2024 from Brighton when its nestmate came to take 10th. This week's timer took a 4th club as YB. Fourth club is Stuart Davenport with a Yearling blue roundabout cock, a Van Den Bulck. Having only its 3rd race of its life.
Llay HS saw S & B.Cooke take first and second. First in the clock for Shaun and Barry is a 3-year-old cheq hen, named the 'unlucky hen' as scored 4x2nd. Syndicate lofts breeding, Sire from Tim Atkins from 'Olympic Fire Eyes' of G&S.Verkerk x Granddaughter of 'Spidey' L&H Sioen when he was paired to a daughter of 'Yuri' x 'Sweet Caroline’. In the fed in 2024 she scored 5th (1212 birds), 12th (1008 birds), 23rd (859 birds) and 23rd (833 birds), in 2025 17th (1456 birds) in fed. Second in the clock is a 3-year-old mealy hen, she is a Lambrecht. In 2024 in the fed, she scored 12th (1286 birds) and 14th (1212 birds). In 2025 she was 19th (1456 birds), 12th (851 birds) and 34th (887 birds) in the fed. Last week scored 29th (1229 birds) in fed. Third club is Derrick Jones timing a Yearling cock, a grandson of 'The Duke of Rutland' which won the MNFC. This cock was 1st (1270 birds) fed from Hereford as a young bird. Get well soon Derrick as I hear had Shingles (horrible thing to have). Fourth club Lloyd & Bagnall, Keith and Steve timed a 3-year-old blue cock, Van Den Bulck Roundabout cock from Jones and Hallam. It was raced previously by Des winning 4th Club, 26th Fed. In 2025 3rd club, 19th (1495 birds) in the fed.
Brymbo HS saw Steve Jones taking the top 4 positions. The winner a 5-year-old mealy cock, Lambrecht x Leo Herman. In 2024 in the fed this bird took 3rd (1380 birds). In 2025 in the fed took 7th (1583 birds) and 4th (399 birds). Second club is a Yearling cheq hen, Best Kittle x Leo Hermans. Third club is a Yearling cheq hen and nestmate to the 2nd club winner. Fourth club is a 3-year-old dark cock, Lambrecht. Wasn't raced much last year due to a wing injury, still scored 4th club, 16th (399 birds) in fed. It's brother topped the fed.
Horse And Jockey saw Mr and Mrs B. Jones & Son take the win. Barry and Jason timed a 3-year-old blue hen, Macoloney breeding. In 2024 31st (1286 birds) in fed and in 2025 25th (1334 birds) in fed. Second and Third club Zak Williams & Grandad, second club is a 2-year-old blue hen, Herman Cuester. Sire bred by Taylor & Rigby, Telford a grandson of Max (Dream Pair) and Dam bred by Derek Flowers, Pontypool, a Granddaughter of the 'Jo Jo Pair'. This hen won 3 x1st in Shotton club. Third club is a Yearling blue hen taking her first card. Half-sister to the second club, same Dam. Sire a Geert Munnik Cock self-bred. Fourth club GM Connah & Maidment, Graham and Barry timing a 2-year-old dark cheq cock, De Kruif x Hooymans x Herman Cuester. Won minor positions in 2025 from Hereford and Wincanton. Last week scored 2nd club, 27th (1229 birds) in fed.
Bagillt HS saw the Chip Shop Boys Phil and Neil Bates take the first 3 positions. The winner is a 2-year-old cheq hen, Figo lines from Gerry O'marra. Second club is a 2-year-old blue hen, Demolition lines via Tom Hewitt. She has won 3 times. Last year in the fed she scored 17th (917 birds) and 5th (887 birds). Third club is a Yearling cheq hen, Rossi x Karen Ann lines. Fourth club Peter Hughes timing a 3-year-old blue hen. Last week she was 3rd club, 33rd fed (1229 birds).
Ellesmere HS saw Andrew Lawley taking the first three, the winner a 3-year-old grizzle cock, Sire Alan Shinton Lambrecht x May Family. This cock last year was a winner and took 2x3rd club. Also taken 26th (971birds) and 36th (751 birds) in the fed. Second club a Yearling cheq cock, Cuesters x Den Bulck. He won as a YB last year. Third club a 2-year-old blue hen, Sister to the winner. Sire Alan Shinton Lambrecht x May Family. Took a 2nd and 4th as a YB. Fourth club P&A,Howell, Hoot timed a 2-year-old blue white flight hen, bred by R&D.Hunt. Took 4th club as a YB.
Rhyl saw D. L & E.Jones take the win with a 4-year-old. M.P.Jones took second and Third club, Malcolm timed a Yearling bred from 'Hoolinman Cock' which is from GM Connah & Maidment x 'The Parrot Hen'. Both parents’ excellent racers winning numerous 1st prizes on South East Route, now retired to stock. This one was last week's winner. Second in the clock a yearling. Fourth club Gwynn Jones timing a yearling.
Deganwy are new to the Federation this year, welcome to the Federation. The top three positions are the same as in Rhyl (as duplicating). Taking fourth is D. L & E.Jones with a 3-year-old.

As seems to be the normal for me, I’m behind, so currently my race team are on young birds. It is making it hard work but at least I’m getting some to races and I hope to get some more going in next week or so.
