This week Lanarkshire sent its biggest convoy of 7,500 birds to Appleby in the north of England. The distance just over the 100 miles back into the central belt of Scotland. The birds were up in another east wind and we expected another fast race. Appleby has always been an excellent race point for the fed over the years, but this wasn't its finest hour. Unfortunately for no apparent reason the convoy didn't clear the race point and an erratic race took place, with most lofts missing birds by night fall. The fed winners raced up to over 1500 ypm but not many with some clubs being won down in the 1100s. Well done to this week’s winners whose birds have the ability to break and head home. Brilliant to see the federation being won by our newest club Airdrie & Dist. Davie Love of Airdrie tops the biggest federation in the land with 7,500 birds. A cracking performance with his Blue cock - some win to have on his CV.
