The South West of England Lerwick Club - £2730 Wetherby Race.
The SWELC was at Wetherby Race course in West Yorkshire on the 2/9/23 with £2,730 on the table for its members with three events in operation for its members in conjunction with the regular Lerwick club Wetherby Race when all birds were liberated at 11.00am into a light north east wind first up to report on was the Annual show race were only young birds shown through the wire In the pen at the Sartan club venue at the South Bristol clubs HQ held were prize money and show cards were awarded and was judged by John Gerard on the show day could take part and then the remaining money to be raced for in the Wetherby Show race event so double the fun of showing in the summer and racing at the end of summer for both sets of prizes the show race flying result is as follows winning the show race was the Walker Brothers of big Phil and Steve in the chair winning £200 with a blue chequer hen flying 158 miles and this being of Syndicate lofts blood with both parents being obtained from Mick Carrick of Chesham and she was raced on the darkness system racing back to just her perch with a winning velocity of 1277.

2nd was the other Brothers in arms in the ring of winners was Chris & John Adams of the Adams Brothers with a Grizzle van Bulk cock winning them £150 flying 173 miles doing 1260.
Claiming 3rd and 5th was Steve Moseley bagging up £175 flying 181 miles his first a blue hen then followed by a chequer hen and both being Van Dykes flown on the darkness system left together with velocities of 1257 and 1226.
4th and 6th was Dave Smith flying 169 miles and winning £125 his first a dark cock being a Bushart of Dave Boxford of Northants and Ray lander of Pinxton lines bred from a pair of birds from Gregg Johnson and his second a blue hen being a Soojen both these scoring birds were paired up together sitting ten day old nest eggs raced on the darkness system with velocities of 1237 and 1211.
7th was Percy Hatherell flying 172 miles with a blue hen winning £50 with a velocity of 990.
8th was Steve Bryant flying 180 miles with a chequer hen that’s already carded several times this YB season for Steve her breeding is her father being a son off the famous Triple X cock when paired to her mother a direct hen from Steve Wheatley & Son of the North east she wins £20 for Steve doing 722.
9th was D & K Bullingham flying 155 miles with a blue cock winning £20 doing 673.
Next was the young bird two bird nominated event winning this was Nick Orchard flying 151 miles with a blue chequer cock winning £125 with a velocity of 1234.
2nd Was Dave Smith with a blue hen of Soojen and this being his show race 6th place scoring bird so a good day for this little blue hen she wins £75 doing 1211.
3rd was Chris & John Adams flying 172 miles with a Dark Coreman cock winning £50 doing 973.
4th was Ray Bevan flying 147 miles with a Mealy hen being of Rudy Van Reeth crossed Van Den Bulk and was raced on the darkness flying back to her perch winning £25 with a velocity of 916.
5th was Mr & Mrs Cook with a Louella stud bred Dark Jan Arden hen flown on the darkness system flying back to her perch winning £15 with a velocity of 742.
The Auction bird race was won by Szmaglik & Humphries flying 172 miles with a blue hen being bred by Mike Hathaway of Bristol of his own created strain each win £850 each with a velocity of 473.
