The SWELC was back at Coventry on the 6/8/23 and at 10.30 am into a north west wind the birds were liberated on their way the top open 20 open positions in the club were as follows; claiming 1st, 4th, 5th & 6th open plus 1,2,3,4 in the Longford club was Rocket Razor Ray Bevan flying 52 miles his winner a blue cock being bred off a Zwols Bonof crossed Gabby Vandenbeale of the shadow lines originating from Joe Booth of Stafford birds his second a mealy hen being a Dave Peeters crossed Dirk Van Den Bulk scoring previously in the SWELC and Longford club for Ray then followed by a blue cock being a Herman Cuesters crossed Crammond & Langstaff bird from the chicken shed cock lines and his final a Dark cock being a Rudy Van Reeth crossed De Witt Tornado all flown on the darkness system flying back to the loft and perch Rays velocities were 1516.988 and 3 x 1514

2nd, 3rd, 14th & 19th open plus 1st, 2nd & 4th Nailsworth club was the Walker Brothers flying 65 miles their first a blue chequer hen being bred off the brothers top Franz Zwols formula one lofts breeding cock called prince Amor that’s bred winners for the brothers he’s bred off the famous Amor and Tip Top and he was paired to a Mick Carrick’s Syndicate lofts hen that won many cards for Mick and topping the UBI combine for Mick on the south road before the Walker Brothers purchased her from Mick their second a dark white flight hen being bred off their Lambrechts Adam Wealthall champion snow ball pair that have produced other winners for the brothers their next a blue hen being bred from off the brothers own created strain of loyal racing pigeons on the road and their final a blue cock being a half-brother to the brothers 2 x breeder buyer winners of £1000 each birds of £2000 winners being a Stuart Wilcox Franz Zwols crossed Brian Milkins of Bristol Murford lady Jansens crossed Benny Stevenick family all raced on the Darkness flying back to the perch with velocities of 1516.832, 1516.166, 1482 & 1472.

7th, 9th, 10th & 11th open plus 1,2,3,4 in the Sodbury Vale club were the brothers again of Chris & John Adams leading it again flying 79 miles with their darkness flown young birds flying back to the perch of wall Lunt & Green and Hardy Krugers blended together with velocities of 1504.477, 1504.208, 1503 & 1502.

8th open plus 1st Cheltenham parklands was Ray Welfair flying 49 miles with a blue chequer hen doing 1504.318.

12th open plus 3rd Nailsworth club was Nick Orchard flying 57 miles with a blue doing 1498.

13th open plus 1st South Bristol club was Steve Bryant flying 87 miles with a blue chequer hen being bred off a direct son off the triple X and the mother being a hen from Steve Wheatley of the north east flown on the Darkness system flying back to her perch with a velocity of 1484.

15th, 16th, 17th & 18th open plus 2nd, 3rd & 4th south Bristol club was Steve Moseley flying 88 miles with 4 x Franz Zwols crossed Wildesmersch dropping together flown on the Darkness system with velocities of 4 x 1478.

20th open was Andrez Stanowski flying 87 miles with a blue hen being bred down from U & K Mazepa of Poland birds and her mother won the south west of England combine from Eastbourne flying east to west for Andrez she was flown on the traditional natural system with a velocity of 1469. A tight finish at the top with Ray and the Walker brothers on a great days racing.
