The SWELC third young bird race to report on was being held at Coventry again and at 13.30pm on the 29/7/23 into a west south west wind the birds were liberated the top open twenty positions were as follows; claiming top spot were the two brothers that are no strangers to the winning scene and over the years flying north road in the SWELC these two need to step forward and take a bow for their winning show performances they have given for many years. They were 1st open and 4th open plus 1st & 2nd Sodbury Vale club was Chris & John Adams flying 79 miles their winner a blue hen being a Wall Lunt & Green origin bred bird and their second a blue hen being a Hardy Kruger crossed Coreman both flown on the Darkness system flying back to the perch their velocities were 1040 & 1038.

2nd ,3rd, 5th and 6th open plus 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Nailsworth club was the Walker brothers of Phil & Steve Walker flying 65 miles their first a grizzle hen being a Lambrechts bred from a pair of birds purchased from Ken Tovey when he called it a day with keeping pigeons they originated from Adam Wealthall and the dam is a direct daughter of champion snowball and the sire a brother to Grizzley Bear of Adams famous birds their second a blue chequer cock being a Hermans Ceusters the sire being bred by Leon Hall from the Den Ass Lines and the dam being a mistake buy probably the best thing they did by clicking wrong buttons on the PC on an online auction of M & J Adcock & Son sale and the Adcock hen they now call her has bred the brothers some impressive result achieving birds their third a blue cock being a Van Den Bulk with both parents being purchased from Kevin Morans entire clearance sale and their final bird a blue chequer hen bred from Mick Carrick of Chesham from his syndicate loft line birds and all were flown on the Darkness system flying back to their perches their velocities were 2 x 1039 , 1032 & 1031.
7th open & 1st South Bristol club was Steve Moseley flying 88 miles with blue Wildesmersch hen flying on the darkness system doing 1023.
8th open was Chris Orchard flying 59 miles with a blue chequer hen being a Leo Van Rijn crossed Andre Drapa and the parents originate from Ian Pollard she was raced on the traditional natural young bird system with a velocity of 1022.
9th open and 3rd Sodbury Vale club was J H Cole flying 80 miles with a blue hen doing 1014.
10th, 11th, 12th & 13th open plus 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Longford was Ray Bevan flying 52 miles his first a blue chequer hen being a daughter of Rays performance cock of the Dominator followed in by a mealy cock which is a David Peeters crossed a daughter of vale Olympic Kittle and Saxon blue via P & D Stud his next a chequer hen being a Jan Theelen down from Rob Kerr birds and his final a blue hen bred off a pair of white grizzles of Ives De Wit crossed Rudy Van Reeth all were flown on the Darkness system flying back to their perches with velocities of 1013, 1012, & 2 x 1011.
14th, 15th & 16th open was the partnership of Vaughan & Cook flying 81 miles their first a Dark cock who previously topped the SWELC from Stratford Upon Avon being a Syndicate loft bred bird from Mike Ganus & Peter Fox of the copper lines of Some Grizzles and the same way bred older bird won the partnership 13th final place in the 2023 RPRA one loft race from Alnwick their second arrival a blue hen being a Franz Zwols and their third a grizzle hen being a Ian Vaughan Kirkpatrick crossed Jos Thone and the Jos Thone being a double grandson off Avril and this was kindly given to the partnership by Mark James of Wyeview lofts all flown on the Darkness system with velocities of 2 x 1011 & 1010.

17th & 18th open was Sev & Nick Orchard flying 57 miles their first a blue Franz Zwols hen from formula one lofts stock originally from Colin Croucher of Swindon and this hen the week previously topped the SWELC from Coventry for Sev & Nick again sent her feeding her nest baby their second a dark pied hen being a Rudy Van Reeth bred from Trigger of Matthew Munslow their velocities were 2 x 1008.
19th open plus 2nd South Bristol club flying 92 miles was D & M Moore with a blue hen being a Paige Brothers Jansen doing 1007. 20th open plus 1st Cheltenham Parklands club was David Caudle flying 46 miles with a blue Gabby Vandenbeale of M & D Evans lines of Woodside lofts cock flown on the Darkness system doing 994.
Some SWELC events now the annual presentation evening is on the Friday the 17th of November at the Sodbury vale club food buffet held tickets must be obtained please from your clock station secretary or the SWELC secretary Corrine on 07867815556 for booking and the South Bristol club will be holding a show race winter show with all birds shown competing for the prize pot show race pens must be pre booked in with Mike Moore on 07413383425 event held on the 19th of November penning 10.30am till 1200pm.
