I have a network of people where i have given and exchanged birds for the benefit and longevity of my strain. I believe in this idea and practice it. It is a personality,human thing to do. My 3 books are an in depth study of racing pigeons from every angle and possible nuance. They look at the personalities,bloodlines in a totally honest way and will be the definitive collection on racing pigeons for now and the future,representing 65 years of dedication and love of the humble pigeon.

A STUDY IN GREATNESS
The top fanciers are worth looking at. They are a diverse set of individuals who share common characteristics that make them outstanding. Dedication,the will to win,discipline,organisation and persistence are shared traits. Deep,penetrating knowledge of the bird and empathy for its wellbeing are crucial,with the desire and motivation,and the targeted objectivity to reach the higher echelons of the sport. Marathon men are often oddballs and nonconformists who stand out from the crowd,and may be creative thinkers who thrive on originality. This seems to me to be a metaphor for the gifted and talented in mainstream society. The old cliche,you cant keep a good man down applies in this personality portrait. I like dreamers who go flat out to realise them in a tangible way. However they remain a mystery,yet the impact is evident.

WINDOW ON THE PRESENT
We are now coming into the season of political unrest. I will assert that The BICC will consolidate itself as the leading organisation with its International ethos. The essence is to enter your birds in these races as a true test of your ability as a fancier-you may be surprised. There is no doubt about the quality of the good birds that head these races. The hyped up auction sales are coming with hopes of riches and fame. In the lofts fit birds are in a full moult and need special care at this crucial time. Latebreds can be trained with impunity til the end of October and will giveyou a run out after the race season. From now onand through winter we maintain natural,open loft conditions,as i like condition on the birds at all times. Anticipate some late homers which need checking out. Mentally,it is time to cogitate,reflect and make plans for the future. With Xmas on the way it is the season of books,dvds and reading aticles.-

BENEATH THE SURFACE
It is the inner qualities inside the pigeon that will interact with the external world to make it a champion. A good looking bird is nice on the eye,yet most of these will fail as breeders and racers. Wise to focus on the perceived character of the bird and its impact on your intellect,psyche and senses. Then you may gain an insight or real perception of the potential of the bird. Gullible people fall for hype and external appearance. Attractive latebreds from the key pigeons are always worth breeding from. Notice how many comments from people are based on handling and outward appearance alone. An intuitive ,subtle mind can look and probe deep beyond the exterior-think and think again. Some of the great men have a touch of genius about them -find it in yourself-ONE STEP BEYOND.

COMMENTS ON HAPPINESS AND ON PSYCHOPATHY FOR MENSA MAG.
Hi Brian-Happiness is the inner feeling and perception in the psyche and a complex emotional condition of the mind,often in harmony with external stimuli. We regard the state as human,yet it may apply to other animals and lifeforms. Relative to the individual,it is felt rather than explained in print. An intangible condition,like trying to catch the wind or explain the reality of the cosmos or self. All definitions are subjective with no absolute. The corporate psychopath can be a ruthless,objective,charming self seeking boss who manipulates the career ladder for self expression and gratification. The irony is that this person may generate power,money ,influence and positive effects for other people by the realisation of his harm that he creates for some. In reality it is morally superior to being a violent serial killer. This person may stimulate cold emotions by taking serious chances and risks to enhance the intensity of an inner buzz or stimulus. In life i have met conmen,murderers and madmen on my extensive ,global travels. All are fascinating and grist to the mill and colour my concept of humanity.
