The Real Value of a Distance/Marathon Bird

We can be misled and deceived by good looks and confirmation in the race bird. In reality the inner workings of the bird must be right so that it can face the reality of the total conditions in the race. Nick and i have a simple rule to judge the worth and value of a pigeon-it must be in the clock at Barcelona International 710 miles. When they do this we can decide that they are fit for purpose and good birds along with the parents of them. The philosophy and criteria of selection are empirical and simple. We do pair sons and dtrs. of these together. In this way a strain is created over many years of dedication. The race this year was laden with difficulty. Any late arrivals from now will be pampered and brought into condition over a long period ready for another go. The criterion of selection then is results. These prove how good we are at pigeon racing.
