THE PURSUIT OF PERFECTION

by Jim Emerton

A goal towards achieving this would be to win the Barcelona International race. This is a lofty aspiration indeed, and is possible into the UK. The significance would be substantial - potential material wealth and huge fame, and a real injection of enthusiasm into the world of pigeon racing. I dream on, yet the concept of it motivates some fanciers. The way to improve is copious quantities of self criticism - a shortage exists in the minds of the many - and it is sorely needed. Examine your systems, methods and objectives and mind set, and aim for radical improvements. This applies to the quality of your birds too, and the overall impact over years may be dramatic, as measured by results and satisfaction levels. Instead of blaming the bird, the weather and the race controller take a look in the mirror of truth - a good hard look. This approach does not suit all, with the emphasis on the blame game - it depends on your degree of introspection perhaps. Yes success is measured by subtlety and overall approach. Personally I constantly seek for improvements overall.
