When you’re voted in at the AGM to do a job, I believe you should to do it as good as you possibly can; not everyone will agree in the way you do things but that’s life. In 2019 I was voted in again as Tilbury press officer so here I am hoping to portrait my fellow club members with the credit they deserve. Each year the club goes from strength to strength with competition getting stronger and stronger although a lot of members have put up some fantastic performances in 2019 one loft stands above the rest which leads me onto the formidable partnership of Robbie & Andrew Wilton, yet again this ace partnership have put up some outstanding performances not only inland with Tilbury SR but within in the Thames North & Eastern Counties, BICC & BBC Nationals Robbie & Andrew work hard with their birds and fly both old cocks & hens on the widowhood system with the young birds raced on the dark. They feed a V/L based widowhood mix with farm beans & peas added for the longer races, there are no secrets to their system of racing just hard work and good pigeons. New partnership for 2019 was uncle & nephew Bernie McDermott & Martin Jones, Bernie & Martin raced together in Walthamstow London before Bernie moved to Essex in 1991 when the partnership split due to work & family commitments, with families all grown up and Martin now moving to Essex they rekindled their partnership this year 2019. Bernie & Martin are in the process of building a team for the future so racing was limited in 2019 however this never stopped them putting up some fine performances. Dave & Gary fly both cocks & hens, the cocks are flown widowhood and hens on the celibate system with young birds raced dark. Dave Martin still finding his feet with south road only racing a small team of cocks Dave decided not to race young birds this year and just train them heavy in the hope to have a stronger team for 2020.
