Saturday July 5th 2014 and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Frome for their final old bird inland race. The pigeons were liberated at 13-00 in a south west wind.
In Etwall & District Flying Club it turned out to be a two-loft race with Dave Williams & Son taking the red card also fourth position. Their winner was a two year old cheq/w/f cock doing 1545 which was also third Burton & South Derbyshire Federation followed by a three year old cheq w/f cock doing 1489. The first three pigeons for Dave were bred by John Roberts of Walsall. In second & third position was Alan & Liz Houldsworth with two blue two year old cocks doing 1523 & 1496.
In Ilkeston Bulls Head Flying Club Roger & Mark Duffield take the first three positions. Their winner was a two year old blue cock doing 1542 followed by two yearling blue hens doing 1540 & 1528 with Rick Shelton in fourth position with a yearling blue cock doing 1500.
In Derby South Road Club John & Steve Hicks get the winner with a yearling blue cock doing 1516 followed by a five year old dk/cheq cock doing 1505 to take third position. In second & fourth position was Roy Gregory & Son with a two year old cheq cock doing 1513 followed by a yearling b/cheq cock doing 1497.
In their five bird section John & Steve Hicks get the winner also third position doing 1516 & 1505 with Roy Gregory & Son in second & fourth positions doing 1513 & 1486.
In Osmaston Park Homing Society Mick Fearn takes first & fourth positions doing 1504 & 1478. His winner was a three year old blue cock followed by a two year old cheq cock.In second & third positions was Mick Stone with a yearling cheq hen doing 1485 followed by a two year old blue cock doing 1479.
In the Silver Ghost Homing Society Reuben Hough takes the first three positions. His winner was a yearling b/cheq hen doing 1504 (last week's winner), his second pigeon was a two year old b/cheq cock doing 1503 followed by a two year old blue hen doing 1502 with Ernie Barker in fourth with a yearling b/cheq cock doing 1441.
Derby Premier were at Windrush with the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation and the pigeons were liberated at 13-45 in a south east wind. Taking the red card with a yearling mealy cock doing 1514 was Paul & Lynda Todd they also took third position with a yearling cheq cock doing 1466. In second & fourth position was Roy Gregory & Son with a two yearling blue cocks doing 1485 & 1433.
