Osmaston Park Homing Society Presentation Evening

The Osmaston Park Homing Society held its annual prize presentation evening at its club headquarters The Jubilee Club Chaddesden on December 8th.

There was no one booked to present the prizes so our club secretary Steve Stone thought it would be a fitting tribute to ask Paul Adams, one of our club members who works hard for the club helping out with the loading of the pigeons on a Friday night and supporting all the activities within the club.

Top prize winner for the 2024 season was Dave Waddington with 109 points winning 7x1st’s, 5x2nd’2, 7x3rd’s, 2x4th’s plus 4 minor cards winning Highest Points winning trophy, Old Bird Inland Average Trophy, and bird of the year Trophy for his blue yearling cock winning 1st Club,147 birds,1st Burton & South Derbyshire Federation Yeovil 892 birds & 1st club Weymouth 71 birds winning total prize money of £362 98p.

Runner up was the loft of S & H W Hall with 95 points winning 4x1st’s, 6x2nd’s, 5x3rd’s, 4x4th’s, plus 6 minor cards winning Young Bird Average Trophy and the Friendship Trophy for the Longest old & Longest Young Bird Combined Average. Winning prize money of £316 35,Gold Ring Race money £155, making total winnings of £471 35p.

Next came Mick Stone with 76 points winning 4x1st’s, 2x2nd’s, 4x3rd’s, 4x4th’s plus 9 minor cards winning Combine Average Trophy ( Old Birds & Young Birds. ) winning prize money of £253 08p,Show Race money £10.00 & Gold Race Ring money £195,00 Making a total of £458.08.

Next came Mr & Mrs Houldsworth with 17 points winning 1x1st, 1x2nd, plus 3 minor cards winning prize money of £56.61, Show Race money £70.00, Gold Ring Race money £35.00 making a total of £161.61p.

Steve Stone came next with 17 points winning 1x2nd, 1x3rd, 2x4th’s plus 1 minor card winning prize money of £56.61p Show Race money £55.00 making a total of £111.61.

Hall & Torry came next with 1 point winning 1 minor card winning prize money of £3.33, Show Race money £110.00 making a total of £113.33.

Next came Shenton Brothers ( Ron & Norman ) with 1 point winning 1 minor card with prize money of £3.33, Gold Ring Race money £10.00, Show Race money £87.50 making a total of £100.83.

Stewart Wainwright came next with 1 point winning prize money of £3.33, Show Race money £80.00 making a total of £83.33.

Finally it was the turn of Paul Adams winning Show Race money of £5.00.

After the presentation was over there was an excellent buffet to get stuck into and the members who were there made it a memorable evening. There was a raffle with plenty of prizes to be won which made £75.

The members who were present at the presentation evening would like to thank Paul Adams for presenting the prizes for us at the drop of a hat on the evening. Also Steve Stone ( Our Secretary )for all the hard work he has put in over the 2024 season along with the rest of the clubs management team Mick Willis, Mick Stone, George Torry and all those who stopped to help on marking night.

The total payout for 2024 was £3377 included in this is £740 in pool money. There is still £655.00 in Breeder Buyer money to pay out. And £310.00 Gold Ring Race money which is being carried forward to the 2025 season

The club look like getting off to a flying start in 2025 with £500 already to fly for in the show races. A thank you to our Driver / Convoyer Alys for the excellent job she did for us during the 2025 season but having taken the decision to vacate her conveyor / driving position she will be a hard act to follow.
