Brotton H/S have held the Clubs 2018 presentation evenings the week before the Blackpool Show Of The Year for a while now, with the venue being the Spar Hotel, Saltburn and for the past few years the Brotton Six Bird Club have joined Brotton H/S for a joint pay-out night which has always gone very well. The prize presentation evening took place on Friday 11th January 2019, Terry Callan the Brotton H/S Secretary for 40 years took to the floor to invite the guests, members, family and friends to the pay-out night. Looking around the room there was a few regular non-fanciers in attendance, Terry and his partner Kath always have a few with them, so too does Golly & Linda Peirson & Tubby Purver, Bill Ward and family have a big following which includes former fanciers Graham Birch & Son of South Bank the previous winners of 1st Up North Combine Old Bird Folkestone National in 1984 from a convoy of 23,725 birds. Once again I was invited to present the silverware to both Clubs worthy winners, like always I took grandsons Hayden & Tyler along with me but as my sister Shirley was unwell I asked my lifelong friend and club mate Sack Peirson along.

Other guests for the night was the East Cleveland Federation Secretary Bill Dowey and his wife Sheila, the couple who were once members of our Club Skinningrove H/S where Bill was Club Secretary left the sport a few years ago. Lifelong fancier Cec Rawson and his wife Jean were also guests for the evening; Cec has flown Pigeons in Skinningrove, Brotton H/S, Brotton Six Bird Club and Loftus in his great number of years in the sport. The former East Cleveland Federation Secretary and Up North Combine Senior Vice-President has now left the sport due to his health but still holds the position of Life Vice-President of the Up North Combine. Once Terry had given a run-down on the thrills and spills of the 2018 racing season he handed over to Brotton H/S Chairman Bill Heslop who is no longer in the sport but keeps active with him also been the Chairman of the East Cleveland Federation. Bill had enjoyed many good years in his flying days with him being the Clubs top prize-winner on numerous occasions. I was then asked to present the silverware to the winners who more than deserved their rewards, some more than others but as another racing season is fast approaching we have to start all over again, which can often spring a few surprises. After the presentation of the trophies, prize money and prize cards, Terry presented Hayden, Tyler Ruby, Amelia, Faith & Ella their gifts of thanks, gifts of thanks were also presented to Shirley, Sheila, Pam Heslop and Terry's partner Kath.

Then is was Golly Peirson the Brotton Six Bird Club Chairman turn to take to the floor to ask me to present the prizes to the Club winners, then Hayden & Tyler were asked to receive their gifts of thanks. With time moving on the soup starter was served followed by the main meal which was a choice of Beef or Turkey dinner with all the trimmings, As always Kath came round win the chocolates. The rest of the night was taken up by the Karaoke Disco, the sale of youngsters for the Brotton H/S 2019 breeder/buyer and the raffle which consisted on a large number of prizes, with the raffle making £200.00 for Brotton H/S Club funds. A few of the crowd got up to sing their favourite songs, which included Christine “The Voice” Rowe the Secretary of Loftus H/S. Once again everyone enjoyed a great night, I would like to thank Brotton H/S for inviting us and also thank both Clubs for the gift of thanks and wish you all a healthy New Year and a successful racing season.
