Mid Cheshire
The weather has not been what we really want at this time of the year and some fanciers are suffering with heavy losses plus I hear that fanciers are losing pigeons in their own loft for what on the face of it no apparent reason. However, looking at the latest federation results for this area there are still plenty of young birds about.
In the Middlewich FC race from Cheltenham it was nice to see Syd Latham, Son & Daughter Joyce reaching the top spot ahead of W Wilson & Son 2nd with Ron Woodward 3rd reaching vels of 1287/1239/1217ypm for the first 3 positions.
The Middlewich 5B were a bit further down the road at Bath when 11 members sent 126 birds that were liberated at 9.30am in a west wind. The red card went to Mr & Mrs Dave Healey on 1492ypm ahead of W Wilson & Son who took the next 2 positions on 1457/1447ypm followed by Alan Woodcock 4th recording a vel of 1436ypm. These pigeons were raced in the South West Cheshire Fed where 51 members entered 885 birds with the top 3 positions going to Mr & Mrs Carl Rowledge.
Info on Acton Bridge race from Cheltenham when 6 members sent 284 birds 1st Curtis-Wall-Lunt with a daughter of their fantastic cock "Eurovision" son of “Den Euro” of Leo Heremans crossed with a daughter of the famous “Box 9 Pair” The partnership are also 2nd with a daughter of "Hard Luck" a top son of "Eurovision" who is responsible for many winners. 3rd is a granddaughter of the “Box 9 Pair” while they are also 4th is from the very good lines of “Merlin” x Leo Hereman. All four birds were timed in two seconds with the first 2 on same second and are joint first federation. Then 2 on next second are joint 4th Mid Cheshire Fed when 57 members sent 1,347 birds.

Geoff Bebbington races in this club under his own name and with his wife Paula which was the original partnership. At the old address where his son now lives but does not take an interest in the pigeons he races as Mr & Mrs where he has the young birds that are not on darkness. Where he is currently living they are on the darkness only a few hundred yards away, there is a noticeable difference in the racing performances, even though they are both treated the same. On the latest result from Cheltenham there is well over 100yds difference in the velocities. At the darkness loft they are dropping into the loft with the vels not too far apart and that is the case with those not on the darkness who are now quite heavy in their moult.
