LAYERS PELLETS
Mine raced well on these from 71 to 879 miles, and over many years. The diet in hoppers, is supplemented by solid corn mixes fed to appetite. I never keep birds hungry-if you do they will fail at distance and marathon distances. The condition is great on my feeding and supplements. A big factor is the cheapness of layers pellets-do not get ripped off for money. In reality have the pellets in metal hoppers every day. The feed has been approved by good science and the proof of the pudding is in the results.

BEHIND THE MASK OF MYSTICISM.
Real mystical experiences are common in man. The brain and mind may respond in certain ways to external stimuli from say drugs, nature, music, people or art or in combinations to produce very powerful feelings of oneness, union or awe. Mountains and wilderness often induce mystical experiences, which may feel like the presence of a God. My personal experiences are perceived as subjective and exactly that. I think certain people are more sensitive than others to these feelings, especially introspective introverts. Many people and cultures externalise these states of mind as Gods, and mystery and the occult and fantasy. To myself a lot of mystery surrounds everyday phenomena such as mysticism.

A HIERARCHY OF PIGEON RACING.
I on the bottom rung and worked my way up the ladder of potential difficulty. Progress to my mind’s eye equates to gradual increases in distance from race point to loft, with the climax as marathon events. We have sprint racing up to 200 miles, middle distance 200 to 500 miles, long distance 500 to 700 miles and MARATHON all beyond 700 miles to Barcelona International as the top race. Some birds will score up to 700 miles, yet marathon birds are uncommon. These races are often the realm of specialists and oddballs, with some great birds.

WINTER CARE FOR THE BIRDS.
Still growing, plenty of protein and fat rich food is the order of the day, if the birds are flown out daily. I like thick layers of warming deep litter in the lofts e.g. elephant grass or easibed. Give the birds a tonic of Vydex Supersix to lift depression on cold, wet days. I aim for good condition in the winter not rationing, as new feathers are growing along with the bodies of the yearlings. Birds kept well are easy to condition in the spring. If breeding early, use cosy nests and materials and feed well. At this time, you are cultivating your next racing champion. Time to put out a variety of foods for the wild birds.
