Christopher Jones - Personality Profile

Via Questions from Jim Emerton

Q1; Chris, tell us about your interest and dedication to pigeons and pigeon racing?

A: I am Chris Jones of Runcorn Cheshire. Aged 28, I have been interested in pigeons since 1995 when I lived next door to a pigeon fancier I used to watch his pigeons flying round as a young lad and they fascinated ever since.

My mother and father would not allow me to get pigeons at that stage but allowed to me to have the garden shed converted to house several budgies another local fancier a farther of one of my school friends seen me at the school I was telling him with my mother about my budgies and he offered to swap them for some pigeons of fancy colours. It was at that point my parents agreed to let me have these 6 pigeons in exchange for the budgies. From there pigeons became an addiction catching the ringed pigeons of the streets reporting them meeting new fanciers climbing building to get the chicks this continued up an till about the year 2000 in 2002 I joined the local club still without much knowledge about racing pigeons and the correct way to do thing I flew 3 races there and due to my parents moving around I was not able to settle with my own pigeons in my own property until 2012 my self I joined the Runcorn new town flying club and scored a few cards for young bird racing again forced to move house. I have now waited until such a time I am in secured housing started back in 2015 for young birds picking up a few fed cards. and flying old birds for the first ever time come 2016 braking my novice 2 weeks running also scoring from the channel which I felt was a big achievement for my self for my first old bird season everything I do in life is pigeon related.

My main base which I have just brought in for stock is 40 direct Mark Evans Vandenabeele pigeons obtaining these back end of 2016 which I am looking forward to the future of these pigeons.

I do as pigeon clubs are declining in numbers now and federation's are becoming smaller I feel that national racing is the future the BICC has a good race program and has the options of international races witch I feel this is a big positive for the BICC
