MYTHS ABOUT NAVIGATION
by Jim Emerton
Science applies its current conventions and theories to the navigation process of pigeons. Confident analysis of experimental data is carried out and boffins justify and make human led assertions about the means and methods, be it smell, ESP, the sun, the stars, magenetism and other possible cosmic and physical influences. I do not believe that human consciousness will find absolute and irrefutable truth behind what is called avian orientation and navigation, I believe it to be larger than the beliefs of science, or other human thought systems. I do know that recognition of obstacles and landmarks is not necessarily a key factor as I have increased the race point distances by over 400 miles in a single jump i.e 466 miles to 879 miles. With a good homing response. So where does this example relate to cherished theories e.g. the big bang/relativity and the whole sphere of scientific approaches to reality i.e physical objects in the universe and consciousness? I believe only what I prove to myself and then sprinkle salt on it.
