GETTING BIRDS TO BICC MARKING FROM THE MIDLANDS & THE NORTH

by Jim Emerton

At present the BICC organisation via the committee does well. With the continued expansion of interest in international events like Pau, Agen and Barcelona, which has been part generated by publicity, there are some individuals who will need to enter their prime pigeons in this level of competition. Now 19 years ago, determined as I was, I sent 6 birds from Holtby near York down to Mr John Lyden in Kent for marking on the Sunday. I sent them via Amtrak couriers on the Friday for Saturday delivery, thanks to the kindness of John at Sandwich. The 6 were liberated at Barcelona International on the following Friday and I verified 3 from six at a record 879 miles in the BICC at Barcelona Int. The moral of the story is the old cliche where there is a will there is a way. My approach has always been mind over matter i.e. psychological as a modus operandi. I hope this inspires people from the Midlands and the North to realise THEIR dreams at the highest echelon of the sport. THINK IT, DO IT.
