Jim Emerton chats to Richard Beach.

Q1.How did you get interested in pigeons?
A1. I was 14 and my mum and dad bought me a electric guitar for Christmas and in February I swapped it for four pigeons from a friend at school. My mum was not to pleased. lol
Q2. What is the strain of your birds?
A2. I don’t know the strain.
Q3. How do you feed and condition them?
A3. I only feed them just once a day. I clean out at least 3 times a day.
On Sunday’s and Thursday’s on the corn i put chopped onion and garlic mixed up with honey and lemon juice with added vitamin powder.
Q4. Do you aim for long distances?
A4. I have always been interested in long distance flying 400, 500 and 600 miles.
Q5. Have you read any pigeon books or seen any films?
A5. I look at videos on YouTube.
Q6. Are you aiming for Barcelona?
A6. I would like to join NFC first so I can fly Pau them try Barcelona.
Q7. Who do you admire in the sport?
A7. Back in the early 80s I was inspired by Jim Biss, Eric Cannon and Jed Jackson all have sadly passed away now but now it’s Mark Gilbert and Jos throne I admire.
Q8. Do you like nature and the natural system for your birds?
A8. I like to keep the pigeons close to nature and natural.
Q9. Any comments on any other aspect of pigeon racing?
A9. I have forgotten to mention that now i have some of Jim Emerton’s birds, I will get some more as they look a picture.
