Gordon Davies Obituary
I must report the sad loss of Gordon Davies, aged 73 who flew in Oswestry and Morda clubs. A lovely, nice man he raced with distinction in the long, severe races. My partner has his birds to keep alive the old Pierre Dordin types-they are beautiful.
Love and kind regards to his family

To all local pigeon fanciers and flyers. A small tribute, and funeral notice for Gordon Davies, aged 73, who sadly passed away on Thursday March the 24th. He lived at The Old Lodge, Sweeney, Oswestry.
He was a very keen pigeon racer from the age of 11, and his father before him, Gordon mainly raced with Morda club, then when that closed, he continued to race in Oswestry club, and was the clock setter while there, I was informed by his friends.
He liked his Dordin type pigeons , and enjoyed racing the channel, Saintes especially.
I helped re home a lot of his pigeons and retained some old stock birds to hopefully get his strain up and winning again for him. I only met the man a couple of times, even though he lived local, but he instantly struck me as a genuine, proper old time flyer, who was also a gentleman and very polite to me. A sad loss to all , and condolences to all his family.
The funeral will be taking place at Oswestry church (next to Aldi) on Thursday the 14th of April.
My wife,of Shropshire White Dove Release, and I will be releasing a basket of white doves, also a basket of my racing pigeons at his grave side in honour to Gordon Davies.
I hope you can attend to see him off in style.
Thank you. Richard Scott.
