ENFIELD CONTINENTAL FLYING CLUB
The first race of the season arrived down at the Cabbage Patch which was flown on the 12th April from Stoney Cross, which would be just over 80 miles for all of the members. Marking was a bit Chaotic with issues with two of the members clocks, so they went to mark their birds at other clubs that they were also members off. When marking was finally completed 12 members had sent 233 birds. On Saturday I received the call from Dave Housden to say that the birds had been liberated at 8am in a Southeast Wind. Starting off the season in fine form was Billy Watkins taking the First 3 places with a yearling Chequer Hen bred by Eric Taylor of Goostry, a Chequer Hen bred by John & Richard Turnell of Cheshunt & a Blue W/F Hen from Bill’s Copper Kettle family. Fourth Club was Club Secretary Steve Holloway with a Blue Lambrecht Cock. 5th Club went to Algis & Jurgita Tiatauris with a 3 year old Chequer De Klak Cock. Finally in 6th position was Steve Holloway with a Lambrecht Chequer Pied Cock.

Steve Holloway took the top 3 places with a Chequer Lambrecht Cock The Sire being bred by Geoff Barker & the Dam being “Bella” a winner of 5x1st for Steve, a Blue Cock gifted to Steve as an egg by Geoff Barker & a Red Chequer Jan Theelan Cock. Race 3 was due to be flown from Yeovil on the 26th April, but it was changed to Blandford as the transporter was unable to access the liberation site due to an event as well as travellers on the site, with the race also changing to a Sunday race as well. For this race 10 Members sent 201 birds which were liberated at 9.25 in a Variable wind. New member Ilie Branetu took his first win in the club with a Chequer Van Der Bulck Cock. Steve Holloway took 2nd place with a Chequer Pied Lambrecht Cock. Third Club was Billy Watkins with a Blue Copper Kettle Cock. Ilie Branetu also took 4th place with a Dark Grizzle Van Der Bulck Hen. Steve Holloway took fifth with a Dark Chequer Hen. Finally in 6th place we had Billy Watkins with a Blue Pied Hen.

3rd May was the 4th race of the season and was due to be flown from Honiton, but the RPRA informed the Inter Counties Fed that this lib site would be unavailable for the next 3 weeks so the race was moved to Kingsdown which would be around 143-150 miles for our members. On Saturday morning I received the call once again from Dave Housden telling me that they had been liberated at 8.15 in a Northeast wind. In the club 12 members had sent 248 birds with roughly 3000 in the federation for the fourth week in succession. Billy Watkins was our winner with a Blue Cock. Algis & Jurgita Tiatauris took 2nd, 4th & 6th places with a Blue Cock, a Blue Cock & a Dark Chequer Hen all De Klak’s.
