JOHN PATTERSON WINS SKIBBEREEN CLASSIC

The East Down Combine were in Skibbereen on Saturday May 14^th for the Joe Ringland Classic and Secretary Eugene Lenaghan has the provisional result out already which I have included along with this weeks photos. The convoy of 1176 birds were released into a light SW wind at 11am.

The winning fancier, and what a remarkable fancier this man is, now well into his 90’s and still a champion and right at the top of the game is John Patterson of Ballylesson who timed his 4year old Blue which incidentally is one of John’s Nominated Combine birds to win 1^st open 1^st West section - many congratulations John on yet another outstanding performance.

Once again this week the West section took the early places with the previous week’s Open winning loft of Mark Foulis 2^nd Open. The next two birds were to the Belmont lofts of R &J Conlane who had won 1^st open from Cashel two weeks Previously.

The next 9 places were won by the Dundonald lofts of Stephen & Mrs. Brown with three together then three more together to Mark Foulis followed by another bird each to both lofts with Cowan & McCartney having the 9^th bird of this batch and just look how close together they all were.

The first East section bird was to the In Form Bangor partnership of Burgess & Brennan, another loft enjoying a super season and finishing 15^th open, next East section loft was another loft in top form Bangor’s Reggie & David Moore with Burgess &Brennan at 3^rd 4^th & 5^th East section and the Moores in at 6^th and 7^th Section.
