Well hello everyone I hope your all having a good season so far, it is a little wet down in Hardy country today.! Don’t ask me why but old Mother Nature always seems fickle toward us fanciers because as soon as we get going the heavens open and speaking with folk “up the line” as they say in these parts, it’s the same all over!
Anyway, as you’re here let’s lift our spirits by taking a look at how Dorset federation fanciers faired in the race from Yelverton on the 28th of June. Conveyor Tony Hopkins cut the strings at 8am and the 1156 birds on board the transporter cleared straight away in a strong south west wind. Here is this week’s Hardy country top ten : 1st and 2nd Dorset federation is the Gillingham racing pigeon club loft of J. Halstead who timed a yearling blue cock bird on a winning velocity of 2190.052 this was followed by a Dark 2 year old cock doing 2185.168. Taking 3rd &5th Fed is the Blandford loft of Mr. & Mrs. M king from Rossmore Flying Club thanks to clocking a yearling blue cock bird doing 2167.297 followed by a checked yearling cock on 2159.324. The loft of Cottrell, Richmond and son who are also members of Rossmore Flying Club had a good race this week taking:4th 6th 7th 8th 9th Dorset Federation. A yearling blue cock on 2159.359, a yearling check cock on 2158.899, a yearling blue hen 2156.141, a 3year old blue cock 2152.475, and finally a yearling blue cock doing 2152.018. 10th position went to R & V McConnell from East Howe South Road Flying Club with a 2-year-old blue cock doing 2148.828.
That’s the “Hardy Country top 10 for this week well done to all.
Once again only two clubs have sent results to me this week, so let’s head over to East Howe South Road Flying Club where 7 members sent 135 birds and I must say it’s a well done to R & V McConnell who take the first six, good flying. I have also had news from “Dorset’s Leading Lady” and secretary of St Leonard’s and St Ives RPC, where 6 members sent 184 birds Mrs. Jenny Mills has sent me the following: Slight pandemonium for this race due to a breakdown in communication, the birds had been up for three quarters of an hour in a very strong south westerly! Luckily, no one got caught out and not long to wait for the birds to start tumbling in. Winner this week taking the first four positions was Jim Fisher all four taking Federation cards. These are Leo Herman’s, the first in the clock off Jim’s best stock cock, same way bred as last week’s winner, this stock cock won the section in the NFC but was retired after returning badly injured from a race, however he breeds good birds for Jim, breeding 11th and 19th Open this year from Wadebridge with the BBC. Taking the next six places was Stuart Laws with all birds clocked within 30 seconds. Well done to both fanciers. It was also good to welcome back Alan Johnson, racing his birds for the first time since his hip replacement, nice to see him looking so well.
That’s all for now, until next time keep calm and clock em quick
