Saturday September 2nd and the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Portland where 1422 pigeons were liberated at 09-00 in a light north east wind, what turned out to be a good day for the north section in the fed taking eighteen of the first twenty positions.Taking 1st & 2nd fed was B & C Brelsford & Son of Woodhouse with a blue cock getting the honour's doing 1466.3 followed by a blue pied hen doing 1465.6 to take second. In third position was another Woodhouse member M & A Sherwood doing 1463.1.In 4th,5th,8th,10th, & 14th was Darnell members G.Jones & Proctor.Their first pigeon was a blue hen doing 1457.8 followed by a blue cock doing 1457.7 then a cheq hen doing 1456.4 followed by a blue cock doing 1455.2 then a 1452.3.Next was G & B Major who had a excellent day taking 6th,7th,9th,11th,12th,13th,& 16th.Their first pigeon was a cheq cock doing 1457.7 followed by two blue hens doing 1456.7 & 1456.3 then a cheq hen doing 1454.5 then a blue hen doing 1453.9 followed by two cheq hens doing 1453.7 & 1449.9.WO'Brien & Son of Park were 15th with a blue cock doing 1451.4.folowed by Park members B & J Broughton Bros & Geelan with a blue hen doing 1448.5 and a cheq cock doing 1448.2 to take 17th & 18th.Finally it was last weeks winner Monty with two cheq cocks doing 1446.0 and 1445.9 to take 19th & 20th.
