Dinner Prize Presentation 2018

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend in Bournemouth attending the British Barcelona CLUB’S 54TH DINNER & PRIZE PRESENTATION. OUR Guest of Honour for the evening was the Royal Pigeon Racing Association’s President Mr David Bridges. Our other special guests were BHW Editor Steve Richards and his wife Nettie, who we would like to thank for their continued sponsorship. I would also like to thank Anne Hooper and Christine White for all their help with the trophies and flowers and thank the Committee for my lovely gift. It was great to see so many faces from all over the British Isles making the journey, to name but a few: our Blue Riband Palamos and Fougères winner Willy Healy flying in from Jersey with good friend Glen Moon; Phil Smith & Pat Davis coming over from Ireland with their family and friends; Dougie & Irene House who now live in Scotland who we haven’t seen for many years making the very long journey to join us; Brian Hicks; John Rumney and George Purves from the North East. Once the banquet was cleared away, Club President Jim Hooper took to the microphone and welcomed everyone then began the award presentation. Finally, after a little dancing, only the raffle was left. Sadly this year we lost Nick Ferriman who, most of you will remember, for many years helped with the raffle numbers. It was very difficult trying to find someone suitable to take over but we have young Corey, who, along with his granddad in 2015 was 1st and 2nd Open Palamos. Thank you Corey for all your help, Jim would not have managed it without you. You did a brilliant job. 2018 Award Winners The winners in each Section receive a medal.
