Before I get cracking on with the first of the young bird report, I will give some info I never had at the time of my last old bird report. Starting with Ian “Evo” Everington of Skelton Green who won an outstanding 1st Club, 1st East Cleveland Federation and 14th Up North Combine Reims from a convoy of 3,794 birds. With Evo’s winner being a 3y chequer Rietvink x De Rauw Sablon widowhood cock that chalked up a 3rd Club as a young bird, but was never raced as a yearling. He is full Brother to a very good cock of Ian’s who has 3 x 1st Clubs and a 5th UNC Lillers to his credit, plus a 3rd Fed Eastbourne. The Sire had 9 x 2nd and full brother to 2nd UNC, Sire of 1st UNC and Grandsire to 1st UNC, 100% Galaxy Lofts. Andy Crooks Of Staithes the winner of 1st Club, 1st Fed, 1st Section and 2nd UNC Burbure from a convoy of 9,331 birds. The Silver Medal winning yearling hen is daughter of a Lambrecht cock bred by Steve Foster of Leyland and the Dam is a 3y Gust Janssen x Vandenabeele bred by Ali McLeod of Billingham T U fame. The Mother of the hen bred Ali a cock to top the Teesside Federation twice in 2015, with her being from Ali’s best ever racing hen “1111” whose Grand Mother was from “Sissie”. Ali became a somewhat master breeder this season for he not only bred the Dam of Andy’s winner he bred the Dam of Andrew Appleton & Paul Longstaff’s blue cock that won 1st Club, 1st Fed, 1st Section, 6th UNC Eastbourne (1) National from a convoy of 7,474 birds and 1st Club, 2nd Fed, 8th Section, 65th UNC Burbure when beaten by Ali who won 1st Club, 1st Fed, 1st Section and 6th UNC.
