YORKSHIRE MIDDLE ROUTE COMBINE

Sleaford - April 2014
This week's race was from Sleaford on the 12th of April 2014 liberated in a West South West wind. Topping the Combine and the Central Section is T. Fairfield of Hull on 1776. Topping the North Section is Mervyn Hinchcliffe of Filey on 1720. Topping the South Section is Kerry Melllonby & Ricky Wheelhouse of Bridlington on 1764. Topping the West Section is G. W. Acey of Pocklington on 1637. Well done to everyone on this our first race of the season, also well done to the four new clubs that have joined this year.
Central Section:
Sutton Flying Club. 7 members sent 118 birds with the red card going to T. Fairfield on 1776. Second place went to G. Charlotte on 1672. Third place went to T. Fairfield on 1638 Fourth place went to Driscoll & Son on 1621. No details for this club which is a shame.
Hull Chalk Lane Club. 13 members sent 298 birds with the red card going to B. Farrow on 1735 with a Matthews x Eijicamp hen. Second place went to Duffin & Beasley on 1709 with a Phil Sullivan cock. Third place went to P. Irving on 1688 with a Janssen cock. Fourth place went to Franciosy and Bennett on 1675 with a Jan Arden x Lindelauf cock.
Hull Millennium Club. 10 members sent 122 birds with the red card and second place starting again and going to K & H Green on 1696 and 1094 with two of his Ark family of yearlings. Third place went to A Stone & Son on 1644 with a 2yr old hen. Fourth place went to M. Wood on 1631.
Cottingham Homing Society. 9 members sent 84 birds with the red card and Second and Third place going to Kev Kingston & Family on 1733, 1546 and 1544 all with his basket breed. Fourth place went to Graham Howman on 1540 with a Trevor Drayton Vandenabeele.
Driffield Homing Society. 13 members sent 211 birds with the red card going to Sam Jackson on 1720 with a Soontjen x Hereman Ceuster which won cards last year. Second place went to Ken Gladstone on 1682 winning pools. Third place went to John Raines on 1617. Fourth place went to Jazz & Maxine Edeson on 1614 with a Foxwood lofts Geerinckx. P. Woodmansey also took some pools.
North Hull Club. 8 members sent 131 birds with the red card going to Mr & Mrs Crawford on 1687 with a Wildemeersch x Van Reet. Second place went to P. Mitchell on 1288 with a Phil Sullivan Soointjen which has been 2nd from the same race for the last 3yrs. Third place went to D. Rasul on 1244 with a Busschaert. Fourth place went to Mr & Mrs Crawford on 1200 with a Staf Van Reet.
Kingston Flying Club. 8 members sent 157 birds with the red card going to Pete and Angie Burke with a 2yr old Gary Cox & Roy Burns Van Reet widowhood cock which has won before. Second place went to Donny McCracken with an ex North road pigeon. Third place went to G Cox with a 3yr old Leo Hereman. Fourth place went to Wright & Scott on 1430 no details given.
Little Weighton Club. 6 members sent 69 birds with the red card going to Jacksons & Fletcher on 1338 with a 2yr old widowhood cock that has had cards before. Second place went to Chris Fenn on 1346 with a well fancied yearling which he has big hopes for. Third and Fourth places went to Jackson & Fletcher on 1321 and 1266.
Walton Priory Club. 5 members sent 128 birds with the red card going to Jamie Manuel on 1622 with a Soontjen Second place went to Jamie Manuel on 1551 with a Busschaert. Third place went again to Jamie on 1491 with a Paul Gorog gift bird. Fourth place went to C. Wysthoff on 1481 with a Steve Sutton Busschaert
Coastal South Section:
Bridlington D.F.C. 13 members sent 211 birds with the red card going to Kerry Mellonby & Ricky Wheelhouse on 1764 with a Premier Stud Albert Derwa which had a first as a young bird. Second place went to Bernard Gray on 1762 with a Multi prize winning Bolton & Williamson Van Loon. Third place went to Kerry Mellonby & Ricky Wheelhouse on 1742 with a Hereman Ceuster which has 4 x 1sts to its name. Fourth place went to John and Linda Chadwick on 1730 with a 2yr old multi prize winning Van Dyke x Premier stud Hereman Ceuster.
Flamborough Homing Society. members sent 32 birds with the red card going to Mike Farnell on 1508 with a Verheye Cock. Second place John Kemp on 1430 with a Busschaert cock Third place Mick Holdsworth on 1403 with a Soontjen hen and he also wins the nom.
Hornsea & D. H. Society 8 sent 170 birds with the red card going to Graham Prince on 1692 with a Staf Van Reet. Second place went to Phil and June Edmonds on 1527 with a Hereman Ceusters. Third place went to Phil and June Edmonds on 1507 with a Janssen. Fourth place went to Gavin Leahy with a Vandenabeele.
Patrington Haven Leisure Club. 10 members sent 192 birds with the red card going to Graham Sparkes on 1628 with a Premier Stud Olympiad. Second place went to G. H Sparkes on 1625 with a Premier Stud Albert Derwa. Third place went to Graham Sparkes on 1623 with a Premier Stud Albert Derwa. Fourth place went Graham Sparkes on 1623 with a Premier Stud Hereman Ceuster.
Withernsea Homing Society. 5 members sent 42 birds with the red card going to Dave Beadle on 1507 with a Hereman Ceuster which had a 1st Boves and scored in the combine last year. Second and Third place went to Dave Beadle on 1507 and 1506. Fourth place went to Alec & Margaret Dodson on 1499 with a Delbar which had a 2nd Sleaford in the old birds last year.
Coastal North Section:
Hunmanby Homing Society. 5 members sent 78 birds with the red card going to Tony Robson on 1670 with a Marina V D Velde already had 4 x 1st in the last 3 years. Second place went to Tony Robson on 1655 with a Marina V, D Velde top young bird in club. Third place went to John Robson on 1625 with a Meulemans. Fourth place went to Bob Bedford on 1605 with a Fred Chadwick Vandenabeele.
Scarborough Social Club. 8 members sent 130 birds with the red card going to Terry & Paul Douthwaite on 1671 with a Benny Stevenick x Van Loon. Second place went to Keith Todd on 1670 with one of his Janssens. Third and Fourth place went to Derek Howard and Paddy Johnson on 1663 no details given.
Whitby Premier Club. 11 members sent 291 birds with the red card going to new partnership Les Winspear & John Cowey on 1562 with a late bred yearling widowhood cock a gift bird off Andy Gibbs from the midlands. Thanks from J & L. Second place went to S. Mallinson & Son on 1544 with a Louis Thijs yearling Hereman Ceuster had a 3rd Peterboro. 4th Maidstone, 6th Billericay. Third place went to James McCourt & Son Dale on 1520 with a yearling Kevin Lawson Soontjen x Van Loon roundabout hen which had a 2nd Peterboro. Fourth place went to Alan Richardson on 1518 with a yearling Louis Thijs Hereman Ceuster sitting 16 day eggs. B. Storr wins the pools.
Filey Homing Society. 6 members sent 142 birds with the red card going to Mervyn Hinchcliffe on 1720 with a Mr & Mrs Beswick Ali Taylor x Karel Boackx Busschaerts. Second place went to Mr & Mrs Hotham on 1715 with a multi prize winning Marina Van de Velde hen in club and combine. Third place went to Matthew Hutchinson on 1714 with a Jacob Poortvliet x Louis Thijs. Fourth place went to Pat & Pete Chapman on 1625 with a Pobor off John Harwood Scotland.
Loftus Homing Society. 12 members sent 365 birds with the red card going to Cleenen & Hanson on 1558 with a yearling Herman Ceuster cock. Second place went to Sayers Bros on 1516 with a 2yr old natural Martin Blyths of Cleethorpes Jos Thorn cock. Third and Fourth place went again to Sayers Bros on 1516 and 1515 with a 3yr and a 2yr old Smith Van Winkle cock and hen bred from stock. Cleenan & Hanson win the 1st £1 nom and 1st 25p nom Mr & Mrs Brundle & Grandaughter win the 2nd and 3rd.
West Section:
Eastrington P. F. C. 9 members sent 129 birds with the red card and the next three places going to Mr & Mrs Brumby on 1540, 1407, 1398 and 1384 all with their Vandenabeeles x Michael Van Lint pigeons they also won the Meat nom. Wardle & Hayward win the £1nom. By the way the secretary Winnie must be thinking about other things when he went to the club without his clock!!
Norton I. Flying Club. 11 members sent 219 birds with the red card going to M. Hodgson on 1544 with a Lindelauf widowhood cock. Second place went to Brian Greenley on 1472 with a Wildemeersch off the late Clive Dawson Brian took the loft over from Clive after his death. Third place went to S. Taylor on 1408 with a Willy Thas widowhood cock. Fourth place went to Brian Greenley on 1397 with another of Clives which originate from Steve Gilbert of Lancashire, Brian also took the pools.
Pocklington H. Society. 11 members sent 220 birds with the red card going to G. W. Acey on 1637 with a J. Redfern Hofken x Jan Ibrecht. Second place went to D. Carlton & Sons on 1542 with a Brian Denney x Staf Van Reet. Third place went to G. W. Atkinson on 1538 with a Van Hove. Fourth place went to R. Young & Son on 1516 with a Soontjen.
Goole L.M.S.H.S. 12 members sent 248 birds with the red card going to Paul & June Battersby on 1487 with a self bred Wildemeersch x Vandenabeele 2 year old cock bred out of the racing loft. Second place went to Paul & June Battersby on 1479 with a self bred 2yr old Harthog x Busschaert out of the racing loft. Third place went to Paul & June Battersby on 1479 with a self bred 4yr old Vandenabeele. Fourth place went yet again to Paul & June Battersby on 1462 with a self bred 2 yr old Harthog cock.
Kirbymoorside F. Club 9 members sent 123 birds with the red card going to Garden & Kent on 1340 with a Devada which has had a 4th as a young Bird from Whitley Bay. Second place went to Garden & Kent on 1330 with a Karel Boeckx. Third and Fourth place went to A. Tateson on 1298 and 1258 with a pair off Bobby Thorpe.
Please Note: if there is no report on the birds the clubs in question will be omitted from the book as this is not a result. I have made one exception this week as the man in question topped the combine, but it will be omitted another time. I would like to thank everyone for their quick reports.
