YORKSHIRE MIDDLE ROUTE COMBINE

Ypres - July 2014

The Combine race from Ypres should have been on the 21st of July but was held over due to bad weather in Belgium. The birds were liberated along with a number of other organisations on the 23rd of July after a 2 day holdover. The race is for a Gold Sovereign, which was donated by the Premier Stud at Patrington. The birds were liberated in a Light North East wind and topping the Yorkshire Middle Route Combine and the Central Section is Brian Rowson of Hull on 1218. Topping the West Section is G. W. Acey of Pocklington on 1203. Topping the South Section is Kerry Mellonby & Ricky Wheelhouse of Bridlington on 1189. Topping the North Section is S. Mallinson and Son of Whitby on 1169. A big thank you must go to the Convoyer for an excellent job with the birds which were reported in good condition considering that they had been in a basket for 4 days. Well done everyone.

 

Central Section

 

Hull Chalk Lane Club. 10 members sent 103 birds with the red card going to Bri Rowson on 1218 with a hen bred by Bri Wade racing to a 2 day old youngster. Second place went to Jason Knaggs on 1116 with a Jos Thorne cock which had a 3rd at Clermont. Third place went to G. Revell & Son on 1038 with a Vandenabeele cock which has had a 2nd Clermont and a 1st Jouy le Chatel. Fourth place went to George Rudd on 1011 with a Marina Van de Velde4 x Janssen which has had many cards.

Hull Millennium Club. 5 members sent 45 birds with the red card going to A. Stone & Son on 948 with a Janssen winning the last old bird race. Second and Third place went to K & H Green on 923 and 920 with some of his yearlings he has been saving for next year. Fourth place went to P. Stamford on 897.

Cottingham Homing Society. 4 members sent 26 birds with the red card and Second and Fourth place going to Kev Kingston & Family on 1045, 1007 and 985 all with his Basket breed. Third place went to Graham Howman on 998 with his family of birds.

Driffield Homing Society. 12 members sent 89 birds with the red card and Second and Fourth place going to Ken Gladstone on 1163 1124 and 1070. Third place went to Sam Jackson on 1099.

Kingston Flying Club. 4 members sent 62 birds with the red card going to C Clark on 1143 with a Janssen x Van Reet that won from Clermont this year. Second place went to G Cox on 1113 with a yearling Premier Stud Hereman Ceuster, I hope by now you have managed to get off the dogs bed. Third place went to D McCracken on 1110 with one of his multi prize winning Wildemeersch cocks. Fourth place went to D McCracken again with another prize winning Wildemeersch.

West Section

 

Eastrington P. F. C. 7 members sent 29 birds with the red card and Second place going to Winnie Hagston and Son Tom on 1102 and 1094 with two bred by Pete Beadle off Mike Kirby stock. Third and Fourth place went to Wardle & Hayward on 974 and 958 with a pair of Lefebre Dhaenens also winning the meat nom. Mike Shipley won the £1 nom.

Norton I. Flying Club. 8 members sent 77 birds with the red card going to Mick Burdett on 1152 with a Leemputten hen with a small youngster. Second place went to Mick Burdett on 1135 with a Leemputten hen sitting eggs which won last year. Third place went to Brian Ford & Sons on 1133 with a Cor Leitjen hen. Fourth place went to B. Ford & Sons on 1111 with a Van Winkel x Janssen hen which has had many cards.

Pocklington H. Society. 5 members sent 44 birds with the red card going to G. W Acey on 1203 with a Jos Thorne. Second place went to D. Carlton & Sons on 1128 with a Janssen. Third place went to T. Edwards on 1095 with a Ponderosa Janssen. Fourth place went to G. W Atkinson on 1078 with a Van da rhee x Van Hove.

Goole L.M.S.H.S. 8 members sent 65 birds with the red card going to Paul and June Battersby on 1124 with a 4yr old cock bred for us by A & M Bristow which won Jouy le Chatel. Second place went to Paul and June Battersby on 1098 with a 5yr old Janssen x Busschaert self bred cock which was 3rd from Jouy le Chatel. Third place went to Stan Lockwood on 1095 with an cock out of Old Janssen x Boschende Flyer Deklack stock which was 4th from Arras. Fourth place went to Stan Lockwood on 1086 with a 4yr old self bred cock out of Old Janssen x Ray Blower stock which was 1st Eastbourne.

Kirbymoorside F. Club. 4 members sent 25 birds with the red card going to A. Tateson on 1078 with a bird bred off gift birds off A. Lander. Second place went to Dodson & Allen on 1073 with a home bred Janssen. Third place went to D. Mason on 951 with a homebred from a pair of gift birds off A. Tateson. Fourth place went to A. Tateson on 788.

Haxby Flying Club. 4 members sent 37 birds with the red card and Second and Third and Fourth places going to Barry & Chris Mason on 1135, 1084, 1084 and 1075 all with their family of Delbars.

 

Coastal South Section

 

Bridlington D.F.C. 8 members sent 84 birds with the red card and Second and Third and Fourth place going to Kerry Mellonby and Ricky Wheelhouse on 1189 1165 1151 and 1127 all with their Premier Stud Hardy Krugers etc.

Flamborough Homing Society. 4 members sent 27 birds with the red card going to John Kemp on 1063 John will be 90 on Boxing day and he still does all his own birds. Well done John who scored with a Mick Holdsworth cock and he also takes Third and Fourth. Second place went to Mike Farnell on 1028 with a gift bird from Mick Holdsworth of Flamborough. Mike wins the nom.

Hornsea & D. H. Society. 5 members sent 45 birds with the red card going to Gavin Leahy on 1090 with a Vandenabeele with has many cards to its name including a 1st already this year. Second place went to Barry Blenkinsop on 1087 with a Soontjen. Third place went to Gavin Leahy on 1065 with a Vandenabeele. Fourth place went to Phil and June Edmonds on 987 with a multi card winning Janssen.

Patrington Haven Leisure Club. 7 members sent 109 birds with the red card and Fourth place going to G. H. Sparkes on 1186 and 1052 with a pair of Premier Stud pigeons. Second place went to Martin Weaver on 1157 with his distance birds. Third place went to Reg Wright on 1141. 

Withernsea Homing Society. 5 members sent 47 birds with the red card going to Dean Adamson on 1068 with a multi prize winning John Rawson cock which has had 10 cards to its name over the channel it also wins the Nom and Channel Average. Second and Third place went to Dave Beadle on 987 and 975 with his Premier Stud pigeons. Fourth place went to Alec & Margaret Dodson on 911 with a Delbar Herman which had had many cards over the channel.

 

Coastal North Section

 

Hunmanby Homing Society. 5 members sent 54 birds with the red card and Second and Fourth place going to J & A Barmby on 1139, 1103 and 1052. Third place went to John and Les Hill on 1082 with their well know family of pigeons.

Scarborough Social Club. 9 members sent 123 birds with the red card going to Derek Howard and Paddy Johnson on 1125 with a Keith Arkless from Up North hen which has scored before. Second place went to Ken & Sue Skelton on 1094 with a Premier Stud Hardy Kruger x Scheers Lodewyckx. Third place went to Terry & Paul Douthwaite on 1075 with a Philips x Willy Vranken had cards before. Fourth place went to Ken & Sue Skelton on 1071 with a Bob Mallinson Gert Heylan x Bob Mallinson T&P Douthwaite Arien Vereckt.

Whitby Premier Club. 9 members sent 86 birds with the red card going to S. Mallinson & Son on 1169 with an inform Louis Thijs yearling cock which has had a 3rd Combine, 2nd Sleaford 3rd and 6th Billericay 4th Huntingdon 4th Maidstone and 3rd Peterborough. Second place went to S. Mallinson & Son on 1121 with a fancied Gert Heylen x Van den Brande cock which has had a 1st Combine and 2nd Eastbourne 5th Bovingdon 2 x 3rd Huntingdon 4th Clermont 5th Billericay and 3rd Battle also wins all the pools. Third place went to S. Mallinson & Son on 1090 with a Guido Barberien widowhood cock which has had a 2nd Huntingdon 3rd Bovingdon 5th Boves 6th Joey Le Chatel. Fourth place went to Alan Richardson on 1027 with a yearling Louis Thijs hen sitting 14 day eggs which has had a 2nd Huntingdon and winner of Barnaby gold ring last year.

Filey Homing Society. 5 members sent 41 birds with the red card going to Mr & Mrs Hotham on 1114 with one bred by Gordon Tune of Beltoft. Second place went to Mr & Mrs Hotham on 1005 with one bred by Dave Hazel of Gainsborough. Third place went to Matthew Hutchinson on 941 with one bred from a Jacob Poortvliet x Louis Thijs. Fourth place went to Colin Smith on 938 with a Van De Poel which was 2nd Bourges last year.

Loftus Homing Society. 4 members sent 18 birds with the red card going to Ian Brown on 989 and 782 Third place went to Mr & Mrs Brundle & Grandaughter on 778 Fourth place went to Ricky Halton and Son on 707.

 

The write up this week is a bit thin on the ground as it had to go to the Homing World rather quick, so I couldn’t wait for some reports. Sorry but I waited till 11-45 Thursday night.
