LANARKSHIRE FEDERATION

Clarkston & District Presentation Night

This year’s presentation again brought all the members and their partners together to celebrate the club’s main prize winners. A lovely meal in the Easter Moffat golf club restaurant was enjoyed, and like last year, the club paid for the meals and the first drink. A very good gesture which all the members appreciate. Our guests this year were Mr & Mrs Jim Wilkinson of Airdrie & District. Jim is without question one of the best fanciers this area has ever produced, with two SNFC section wins and many open wins over the past few years. Jim can turn up at any level and win. It was great to sit with them and talk pigeons.

Clarkston has supported the federation this year by purchasing their own Geraldy baskets ,showing their commitment to the fed. It’s great to see three new lofts joining the club this year. Competition is everything for those who wish to progress.

This year’s annual shows again were a great success with a number of new fanciers taking in the competition which rates with the best around. Well done to all members who helped and especially to Charlie & Davie for their organisation.

Racing season

Mrs Dorothy Muir became the first Clarkston loft to top the federation since our joining, great result Dorothy, with also Charlie & Davie (Muir Bros) topping off a great weekend being 2nd Fed.Muir Brothers have made great progress over the year, with noted performances in the young bird season, which saw them win three races and the young bird averages. Eric Kirkham, who flies one of the smallest race teams in the club and federation, put up some excellent performances winning two old bird races and flying a steady bird for his very small set up. George Geddes and Hugh Currie also managed a win each in the club, well done to them. Danny Mitchell, "Mr Distance" in the club, as usual concentrated on the National races, leaving the club stuff to the "boys". Danny managed to win the National section again in 2013. Well done Danny. Tom Corrie, Son & G/son were Premier Prize winners with Old Bird & Combine Average winners. They had a great season, winning 11 x 1st prizes and 7 x 2nd prizes and many section and open prizes with their GWP Macaloney record breaking Camphus and Vandenabeele family of pigeons. Well done Tom on an excellent season.
