West Cheshire Federation (South Road) Presentation 2016
Friday 18th November 2016 saw the combined Hooton HS and West Cheshire Federation presentation evening. Hooton HS being one of the best organised flying clubs in the locality with a huge array of club trophies along with the federation trophies meant the trophy table was a sight to behold which unfortunately is a rare a sight these days. Congratulations to the Hooton HS for arranging such a display and presentation along with our federation hierarchy for an enjoyable evening with great company. Look out for the Hooton Report by Geoff Blackhall.
Host, Compare and Special Guest.
The host and compare for the evening was once again John Waters. John is the now outgoing RPRA Western Region secretary having been in that post for five years and the current North Wirral Federation Secretary where he has been the secretary for some thirteen years. Thank you for your service John I’m sure you will be missed by the RPRA but don’t leave the North Wirral Fed or the WC and NW AMAL.
John, who has juggle his time between his hobby of racing pigeons his work his family and still find time to dedicate copious hours of his spare time dealing with his local federation business as well as the not so local Western Regions business which will also encompass national RPRA business. Special thanks are extended to John for giving his valuable time to the presentation.

Host for the evening John Waters
Special guest for the evening was Graham May. Graham has a long standing relationship with Hooton HS and Ellesmere Port. Graham’s late brother Ian May who raced his pigeons for many years with the Hooton Club with these days Graham plies his fancier skills with much success on the opposite side of the country and within the Lowestoft partnership of Thompson and May Brothers. The partnership although race within the Lowestoft South Rd FC they have more than applied themselves within the BICC

Special Guest for the evening Graham May
The presentation got underway with the Hooton HS prize presentation. The West Cheshire Federation prize presentation got under way with the individual prize federation winners presentation followed by the thank you bouquets to the well-deserved recipients.
The highlight of the evening being the presentation of the federation championship to Stephen Williams, Bromborough. Steve who also puts a shift in for the federation weekly through the season as the federation race controller and is now also the Federation President broke all the records in 2015 being the highest prize winner in the West Cheshire Federation with the prize list showing him winning 111 The previous best score since I have been scribing in the area was Mr & Mrs Archie and Sue Price of Ellesmere Port with 65. (I’m not sure if these were points or pounds but as they are not indicated on the fed result, although they match up with the pay out with regard to pounds).
This season and winning the championship with a £71 pounds is again the second highest ever score within the federation since this scribe has been collating these reports. So, another brilliant achievement by an all-round top fancier and hardworking federation official.
Steve Williams, (Rock Station HS) West Cheshire Federation Champion receiving his Championship trophy from Special Guest Graham May
.
Steve Williams wins three first federation prizes, six second’s, and five third federation prizes. Steve also managed to win the coveted gold ring race from West bay (the last young bird race of the season) winning £71 in federation cash and a further £470.90 in gold ring prize money totalling £541.90.

Joe Ellis (Granddad of Wesley Ellis) receiving fed prizes on behalf of Wesley
Wesley Ellis (Victoria HS) is this year’s runner up in the federation championship. Winning the federation on 2 occasions also taking three second, three third and one fourth federation compiling a total of £44.

Robbie Sandland (R and R Sandland) receiving their federation prizes.
Roy and Robbie Sandland (Rock Station and Willaston HS) consistently finish in the top echelon of the federation championship and finishing fifth this season’s championship the partnership topped the federation twice, also taking one second prize, and one third prizes completing another successful year.

Eddie Bateman (E Bateman Bros and Son) receiving his federation prizes
Having just completed what can only be described as probably the best individual all round season by one loft on the Wirral in 2016. Eddie collected his prizes which included one first federation, one second, two thirds and one fourth Federations. The partnership also wins the old bird inland averages along with the president’s cup.

George Harrison (Hooton HS) receiving his federation awards which included one second and three fourth’s federation.

Brian Jones (representing the partnership of Jones Lamb and daughter) receiving their prizes which included two third and two fourth’s federation.

Robbie Thomas (representing the Jones and Thomas Partnership)
Robbie receiving his federation prizes which included one second and one third federation.

Dave Cottrell (W H Cottrell & Son, Hooton HS) collects his prizes which includes one first federation.

Ted Shore (Shore and Lea partnership) collecting his federation prizes which included first fed.
This season for Ted in itself was an excellent performance from one of the shortest flying lofts in the federation but not only to win the federation Ted’s pigeon would also be confirmed as the winner of the WC and NW AMAL, but to then go on and be confirmed as the winner of the mighty North West Combine and some 7000 pigeons was an absolutely brilliant performance to say the least Congratulations Ted from all the West Cheshire Federation.

Tommy Hayes Collecting his federation prizes that included one second federation.
Tommy was to be the third loft on the Wirral and although with a different federation (the North Wirral Federation) would top the Mighty North West Combine in 2016.
