THURROCK FEDERATION
By Demolition Man
Week three of the Thurrock Fed race program from Worksop a new race point for the Essex area which lays a bit more west of the A1 in Nottinghamshire. Yet again with weather not looking good for a Saturday liberation and after a long discussion with race advisor Marcin it was decided that yet again we needed to move the race day to Sunday 27/04/25 for another trip to Nottinghamshire. This time distance increasing for the shorter flyers to around 130mls.
Steve Smith again our trusted federation conveyer arrived on site at around 12:30pm with a conveyor of around 500 birds with an unfortunate drop in birdage of around hundred birds a lot of this being the duel members spiting their teams between two feds. With the birds getting plenty of rest, Steve was up around 5am getting himself prepared to give the birds their early morning drink before liaising with race controller Marcin Grzedowicz a few phone calls down the line and a news of the mighty UNC sitting at Peterborough with a conveyor of around 17,000 birds and what with a few other larger organisations sitting below us it was decided to let these pass before liberating. And now with a clear line of flight, strings were cut and birds were away at 11:00am into a clear blue sky with light southerly winds birds cleared well towards home with the wind being on their nose once more an ETA was around just under 3 hours.
1st 2nd Laindon RPC & 1st 2nd & 11th Thurrock Fed with velocity’s of 1444.9 1444.6 & 1397.5 was the Portugal tour guide Mr Alan Scarborough. Their second pigeon a Jos Cools pigeon and their third bred by the super lofts of Mark Bulled of Harlow Essex both flown on the widowhood. Well done lads looks like another great season ahead.
