‘JOHN WAYNE’ SADDLES UP FOR THE MCCABE’S

This week the mighty NIPA were set for County Kilkenny. On Saturday the 9^th of May. A total of 514 NIPA Members sent 13,835 Birds to Gowran Park in Co. Kilkenny for the fourth race of the NIPA Old Bird Season. The Birds were liberated at 11:30hrs in a North East Wind.

The Winning Bird from the fourth Old Bird Race of the 2026 NIPA Season belongs to J.F McCabe & Son of Newry & District HPS in Section G.

J.F McCabe & Son 1st Open NIPA Gowran Park Winner 'Champion John Wayne' from 13,835 Birds

The father & son partnership of John F & Conor have won the accolade of topping the NIPA. The Gowran Park Open winning pigeon has been named ‘Champion John Wayne’ and clocked the winning velocity of 1327.3YPM. He is a 2 year old blue cock GB24 D 68037 and was a gift pigeon from Wayne Doonan of Cock Crow breeding lofts. The Sire is a direct from Liedeman Bros being a dtr of Bodo and Claire. The dam is a dtr of Eijerkamps Blauwe Jackpot and Diamond Rossi. This cock has won the club previously being 10^th open Roscrea last season. An overall outstanding team performance with 9 in the top 13 in the NIPA Open.

SECTION C REPORT

The Winner of Section C (97/2,683) from Gowran Park was D&J Campbell of Doagh & District HPS. Davy wins in his new club from Gowran Park (296 Birds) and were first &second winners in Section C (2,683 Birds) the two bird also obtained a great position in the NIPA Open winning 27^th & 35^th Open (13,835 Birds). The Gowran Park Section C Winner GB25 V 27552 Sire is Glen McNeilly and the Dam is from his old lines. Davy’s second bird is a cross between A&N Lewis and his own family which includes John Greenaway’s Iron Lady.

Saturday saw a return to Gowran park racecourse Kilkenny. Conditions at liberation were good and a fresh north wind lay in store for the convoy. Winning the Amal this week taking 1st and 2nd is D&J Campbell Doagh HPS. 1st & 2nd sec c and 27th & 35 open NIPA 13,835 birds. The pigeons details are as follows. first pigeon is a yearling widowhood cock he was 39th open 7th section in Dunmanway yb Nat last year his breeding is Glen Mcneiley and my 05 06 lines The second pigeon was a2 year old hen this hen is very consistent that was her 6th open and section prize she is of a son of 06 and a grizzle hen from A&N Lewis she was 8th open Penzance last year. Super job Davy well done

This Cock has been a brilliant racing cock for them winning 18^th Open, 15^th Open, 21^st Open and 37^th Open EDC and he has at least 8 Section positions for them.
