NRCC prizes 2019

It will be a proud moment for popular North Road Championship Club member Richard Mamwell when he is accompanied by grandson Tom to collect no fewer than six trophies at this grand old club’s prize presentation at Springfield’s Exhibition Centre, Spalding, on Saturday November 30.
Five of them will be for their triumph in the longest race from Lerwick, the sixth fastest velocity from this racepoint in the club’s 118-year history, and the sixth will be for an outright win from Perth.
Pride of place, however, will go to the coveted King George V Challenge Cup, the ultimate prize for winning from Lerwick.This impressive trophy haul will cap a fine season in 2019 for this Louth partnership.
There is a total of 21 trophies up for grabs from Lerwick and no fewer than eight of them go to race runner-up John Norris, of Grantham, whose only race with the NRCC these days is from Lerwick. He would love a repeat of the 1995 race which he won, but there is plenty of consolation for his near-miss this year.
Other race winners were Dunbar, Bob Boulton; Fraserburgh, Brian and Christine Guilford; Thurso, Andy Kirkman; Berwick young birds and old hens, Dave and Pat Evans.
In 2006 and 2012, Russ and Denise Skinner, from Boston, won the Thurso race. In 2004 they won from Perth.
This year they are back among the trophies, having won the overall average and the old bird average with these open results: Dunbar 23rd; Perth 56th; Fraserburgh 13th; Lerwick 29th; Thurso 11th; and Berwick YBs 20th.
