Firstly, we would like to start off by congratulating one of our East Leake members on a fantastic achievement this weekend Mr Paul Crooks taking 1st & 2nd open NRCC Dunbar. His first bird was a 2yr old cheq hen who won a gold medal in the Notts fed championship race from Berwick 2021 her parent was purchased from Belgium in 2020 when Paul attended the Netherlands spring fair The breeder or the dam is Johan Van Herck, and she is a grand daughter of Olympiade 003. The bird who was 2nd open is a cheq hen the dam is a daughter of Trevor Taylors famous 25 cock bred by John Wheatcroft he was paired to his own daughter. The sire is from premier stud Gordon / Man O Chester lines. Pauls ow words “Thanks guys for your goodwill messages I’ve hoped for this day for years and to put the icing on the cake forest have another season in the prem”. Hurt me to write that last bit being a Leicester fan.

Onto our race report the Warwickshire & District Federation were again at Darlington (4242) On Saturday 20-5-23 and what glorious racing weather we had! The 907 birds sent by 60 members were liberated by convoyer Paul Bakewell at 10.30am into a very light southeast wind.
Dunchurch RPC Saw Tim Atkin again take all 3 spots first place was last weeks winner a 2yr old cock doing 1624 from a son of Charlene paired to a g-daughter of war drum x Rhiannon 2nd a yearling blue hen doing 1624 from Vardy a son of foxy lady paired to a g-daughter of friendship 3rd spot was a 2yr old doing 1592 from a son of propere Rik paired to a g-daughter of Kanon sire an g-sire to multiple winners. These were all flown on Tim’s own widowhood system.
Syston & District FC First place went to Gavin Cooper with a yearling cheq hen doing 1600 she is flown on roundabout and is bred from a John Salt Soontjen from J. Underwood & Son x a JPS Steffan Lambrecht she now has 4 x 1st clubs and 2 x 1st feds to her name 2nd went to Mick Thorpe doing 1563 with his old faithful 5yr old grizzle cock coming for him and winning the club pool money flown on widowhood 3rd place was MR/s R Elton at 1559 with a 3yr old widowhood cock bred from Adrian Duggins Leo Van Rijn stock.
Nuneaton Progressive RPC First place was won by Paul Robinson doing a very quick 1626 clocking a 2yr old blue cock which is bred from John Huddlestone x Mick O’Rourke pigeons this win now adds onto the pigeons others 4 wins on the south road 2nd place was WD & M Graham a 4yr old blue cock at 1546 which is a van loon x Paul Robinson pigeon 3rd spot Mr & Mrs M Perkins with a yearling blue pied hen doing 1522 from J Heylen x De Meyers.
East Leake FC What a day this man had 1st and 2nd open NRCC and then takes all 3 spots in the club race! Paul Crooks 1st place is a yearling cheq hen doing 1600 Hereman Ceuster flown on roundabout she won £300 in last year’s futurity race, and she is full sister to Paul’s 2nd open NRCC Dunbar winner in 2nd place is a yearling blue cock again Hereman Ceuster on roundabout breeding is Taylor Wheatcroft Premier in 3rd place is the nest mate to the 1st open NRCC Dunbar winner. Fantastic day at the office for Paul!! Congratulations.
Appleby Magna HS In 1st & 2nd place Mr/s Passey & Family doing 1473 & 1465 two 2yr old widowhood hens both Geoff Kirkland Flor Engels in 3rd place Bernard Bodell with a yearling natural hen doing 1455.
Southam & District IFC Keith Arnold takes another win with a 2yr old SVR cock being raced celibate and having his first race after being hawked with 3 other loft mates earlier in the season doing 1548 Meitek Kwasny takes 2nd with a 2yr old blue Aarden based cock raced on a natural system vel 1516 3rd is Keith Arnold with a 6yr old blue SVR hen again flown celibate again the club reports to have poor returns.
Shipston On Stour FC Gavin Duggan picks up another win doing 1538 with his previous week’s winner his yearling slatey cock flown on roundabout in 2nd & 3rd went to the club secretary doing 1513 & 1510 2nd place is a 6yr old cheq hen and 3rd place a 4yr old dark hen.
Ashby & District FC 1st place goes to G Chaplin & Son doing 1599 a yearling grizzle cock who is Pitbull cross gifted by their good friend John Abela from Preston flown on the roundabout system 2nd place was TP Wainwright at 1582 and 3rd spot again G Chaplin & Son doing 1522.
Trent Valley House HS taking the first 2 spots again is John Gilbert his 1st bird a 2yr old hen at 1601 and his 2nd also a 2yr old hen 1585 3rd place goes to John Clay with a 2yr old hen doing 1390.
Church Road FC in first place is Gary Smith doing 1607 with a yearling grizzle hen who is bred from Rob Orton Lambrecht x Shaun Pilgrim Lambrecht flown on Gary’s chaotic system 2nd Malc Evans at 1553 with a 2yr old red cock in 3rd place Neil Roberts 1520 with 3 yr old cheq cock.
