Mid Cheshire
There have been some dodgy races this year with some having good races while others are having poor returns and are behind with those they are getting. The South West Cheshire Fed race from Messac saw 38 members enter 212 birds that saw Mr & Mrs Carl Rowledge collect another red card.
The Middlewich 5B winners are Mr & Mrs Dave Healey who were also 2nd & 3rd on 1252/1228/1225ypm, they were also 5th 8th & 9th fed. Their first two are a 3yo blue cock followed by a 3yo red cock. In this race Tommy Howarth finished 4th on 1212ypm. The Fed and 5B were also at Bath when 53 members sent 630 birds liberated at 13.45 in a North-West wind. The first 4 in the club are Alan Groom on 1529ypm, Peter & Dawn Latham 1523ypm, W Wilson & Son 1514ypm and Mark & Heather Smith 1477ypm. There is no further info on these in the club. The fed winner’s in this race are Tommy Hulme & Son on 1593ypm. The 5B then went on to Bath where the members appear to like racing from and in this race W Wilson & Son clocked 2 on 1522/1517ypm to take the top two positions. Peter & Dawn Latham also put two in the clock both on 1501.573ypm for 3rd & 4th positions. The fed winner in this race was Alan Williams who took the 5 when 42 members sent 474 birds. The next weekend’s racing for the 5B was another double header with races from both land and channel. The land race was again from Bath when 39 members entered 521 birds in the fed that was won by Mick Stockton being 1st & 2nd. The 5B winners are again W Wilson & Son with two on 1448ypm the first being a blue hen. 3rd & 4th once again go to Peter & Dawn Latham recording vels of 1433/1315ypm. On the same day, they were also at Ancenis with 89 birds from 17 members, the channel races always suffer when there is a land race on the same day, the 5B members did not enter this fed race that was won by G & A Jones.
Now we move on to the Middlewich FC race from Cheltenham when 6 sent 61 birds that were led home by W Wilson & Son on 1424ypm who were also 6th fed. Alan Groom recorded a vel of 1313ypm for 2nd club ahead of Peter & Dawn Latham 3rd on 1300ypm.
In the Acton Bridge club 6 members sent 109 birds with the top three positions going to Curtis-Wall-Lunt had their last inland race of the old bird season racing. Their first in through the trap is a chequer cock which is a direct son of their "Box 9 Pair” who must be one of the very best breeding pairs around. This cock like so many more off this pair has won the fed before. 2nd is another fed winning cock called "Montana" who also won 2nd Central Lancashire Combine against 5,464 birds only beaten by loft mate for 1st Combine. 3rd is yet another fed winning cock known as “21”. In this race, the partnership was racing with the Mid Cheshire Fed when 57 sent 698 birds that were liberated at 11am in a north-west wind.

The Middlewich FC then moved on to Ancensis when the red card went to Peter & Dawn Latham who are also 13th fed with a vel of 1092ypm. The channel races have suffered this year and in this 400ml plus race 28 members sent 177 birds liberated with the Three Counties Combine at 6.15am in a north wind with the Mid Cheshire fed winners being Tommy Hulme & Son.
