Mid Cheshire

The racing season is under way and it looks like another good start for Middlewch FC member’s W Wilson & Son ending up with 1st club 6th Fed. The Mid Cheshire Fed when 62 members sent 1215 birds to Worcester to be liberated in a North-West wind at 11.15am. They have been flying a good pigeon in recent years. Club chief Alan Groom is 2nd club 19th Fed on 1473ypm ahead of Mr & Mrs Dave Healey who are 3rd on 1424ypm. This was a good race for the pigeons having their first test of the season with vels. into the 1500’s for the leaders.

Curtiss-Wall-Lunt take the first 4 in the Acton Bridge club that saw 10 members turn out to send 229 birds which is a good send when you look at the results pages. The partnership have been flying a good pigeon in the fed since joining a few years ago and this week end up 2nd 3rd 4th & 5th Fed making it another good start to the season recording vels. of 1536/1532/1530/1529ypm. They are 1st in clock blue yearling cock son of “Hercules” winner 9x1st sire of fed winners dam “Gabrielle” dam of many winners including “Arena 02” 1st combine 5,646 birds and RPRA award 2016. 2nd is a blue yearling hen from the Leo Hereman stock and is a granddaughter of the famous “Box 9” pair. 3rd in clock is a chequer yearling hen Leo Hereman daughter of “617” a top fed winning son of “Box 9” pair. Their last on the result this week being 4th in the clock is another yearling blue cock, again from the Leo Hereman stock and again yet another grandson of the “Box 9” pair. The addition of £50 built into the fees at the club looks to have worked in the first race let’s hope they keep it up. I must say that the Fed winner for Mellor Bros was a good pigeon on the day and they finished 1st club when 14 sent 185 birds and 1st Fed beating one of the best racing lofts in the UK.

The Middlewich 5B had an entry of 113 birds from 11 members with the top two positions going to Alan Woodcock on 1389/1361ypm and they are also 1st & 6th in the SWCF.  Mr & Mrs Dudley Niblett are 3rd club 8th fed with a vel. of 1359ypm ahead of W Wilson & Son 4th on 1347ypm. In the SWCF 68 sent 886 birds.
