Around Middlewich

It has been a rough time for the young birds and the numbers entered and members sending are well down on what was expected when fanciers were saying they had good teams of young birds prior to the first race. We have had a few tough races with a lot of young birds missing and the couriers are saying they have been busy with collections.

The Middlewich FC were at Cheltenham when Mr & Mrs Dave Healey took the top two positions on 1588/1522ypm with two cocks being a chequer and mealy. The first back for the partnership ended up 2nd Mid Cheshire Fed by half a yard when 56 members sent 1140 birds. W Wilson & Son are having a good run and finish 3rd on 1483ypm ahead of Ron Woodward 4th with a chequer hen recoding a vel. of 1461ypm.

The Middlewich 5B were also at Cheltenham with a different lib when 8 sent 105 birds that saw the top two positions go to W Wilson & son on 1556/1555ypm with a blue cock and chequer hen, this was a good race for the club in the South West Cheshire fed with the first two being 2nd & 3rd fed when 49 sent 818 birds topped by Crewe West End member Colin Lindop and the first 6 in the 5 Bird club making the top 20. Ron Woodward clocked a blue cock from 3rd 8th fed on 1550ypm ahead of Mr. & Mrs. Dudley Niblett on 1546ypm with a chequer hen who are also 20th fed. The marking at Middlewich goes well for the North West Classic and they are holding an open race on Wednesday the 25th August open to the club radius. I don't know if many want to send but you can also send old hens as trainers in preparation for the Nationals.
