The 4 Trophies presented to the BICC by Jim Emerton
I value the International concept of the BICC, central philosophy i.e. the actual racing against the best in Europe. The top race is The Barcelona International in July. Discerning exponents of the marathon discipline prepare their birds for the ultimate, mind blowing experience in racing. For Ireland I have given The Belief Trophy, for Cornwall The Mensa Trophy, the longest flying pigeon is awarded The Jim Emerton Trophy and the pigeon with highest velocity over 750 miles is awarded with The Barcelona Dream Trophy. They are all antique solid silver and take some winning by man and bird. Lucky recipients so far include Mick McGrevy & Son, Trevor Robinson, the Padfield family and Marco and Cath Wilson. All these people are exemplars of the craft and may find a resting place in folklore. Some of the trophies will be won again in 2016 and the future of the sport.
