GWENT GREATER DISTANCE CLUB
2010 Young Bird Sale
The auction to take place on www.elimarpigeons.com beginning Friday 30th April for 7 days until Thursday 6th May. Only online bids accepted.
The following Gwent Greater Distance Club members have donated 2010 YBs in aid of raising funds for transport.
The results of members of the Gwent Greater Distance Club can only be described as superb in the BICC Nationals, Internationals and other Nationals and Classic races. Amongst our membership are the winners of more than SEVENTY WELSH NATIONALS plus six or more QUEEN’S CUP winners. From the selection below you will be able to purchase quality YB’s from BICC National winning lofts, as well as reknowned BICC International flyers and Welsh National winning lofts when competing in the WSRNFC, WSENFC and Spanish Club of Wales.
The members of the Gwent Greater Distance Club would like to take this opportunity to thank purchasers in anticipation of your successful bidding. Unless otherwise stated the fanciers listed below are offering one young bird for the auction sale.
Starting bid for all lots is set at £40
1. R. Strawbridge (2 young birds). Ray is a former winner of the Dax National and regularly features on Welsh National and BICC long distance National results. Only the very best National winning Jan Aardens housed here.
2. Mr & Mrs Mears. Gordon and June are winners of 1st National Lerwick and 1st National San Sebastian and rarely fail to clock from the distance races to their small back garden loft.
3. D. Ford. This man needs no introduction as he has won out of turn in Welsh Nationals for more than 40 years. I believe his National tally now stands at NINE outright National wins plus 1st BICC Tarbes International in 2008. One not to miss
4. Garwood & Bullock. Ted and Jimmy have spent a fortune acquiring the best long distance blood available including the best of the Southwells and Dave Impett Brugemanns. Recent results show that they have invested wisely.
5. Mr & Mrs Hooper. Always a force to be reckoned with in long distance races, and since his retirement from the post of BBC secretary Jim’s performances have regained the heights of the 1970s and 80s with top class performances at National and International level out to 600 miles. The old Kirkpatrick bloodlines along with Ken Hine distance lines.
6. Padfield Family. Yet again a loft that needs no introduction!!! Many National wins in Wales plus scores of top finishes in CSCFC, BBC, NFC and BICC long distance races. This has to be one of the best long distance lofts in Wales if not the whole of the UK. Only the finest performance tested Jan Aardens housed here.
7. A. Ware & Daughter. Adrian has won just about everything there is to win in Wales. Amongst these wins are the J.O. Davies Champion Young Bird of Wales Trophy, the Taffy Bowen Champion of Wales Sprint/Middle Distance Trophy and the Queens Cup, all awarded by the WHPU for the best performances in Wales in any given year. Add to the above list, four outright National wins including a 1st Open BICC and you have the opportunity of purchasing from one of the most consistent winning lofts in Wales. Staf Van Reets at their very best.
8. Watkins Son & Cockcroft. This Tonypandy partnership has been winning out of turn for many years. National winners themselves and breeders of birds to breed 1st National and 1st Combine plus a King’s Cup winner for others. The purchaser can be assured that they will select something special bred from the stock loft. Main bloodlines Jan Aardens, Tasker/Haeltermans, Janssen Van Den Bosch and Van Loons.
9. M. Sparey. The Spareys of Nantyglo have been winning out of turn for the best part of 50 years on both North, South and South East routes into Wales. The purchaser will not be disappointed with an introduction from this top class loft.
10. J. Williams. John has kindly donated a young bird from his team of stock birds. Dennis Ford was gifted a young bird by John and in 2009 this cock went on to win amongst other top class performances 1st & 3rd National in cross channel races. You too might be as lucky as Dennis Ford!
11. Preece Bros & Son. This Cwmtillery partnership have, I believe, 10 National wins to their credit plus back- to-back Queens Cup wins in 2008/9. Only the very best performance Jan Aardens, Lefebre Dhaenens and Van Loons housed here. If you want to win races from 50 – 550 miles these are the birds for you.
12. W. Reed. Our resident naturalised Welshman comes in next. This man is literally a legend in his own lifetime with at least 7 Welsh National wins and scores of top class performances in cross border Nationals including 1st BBC Palamos and top finishes with the NFC from Pau and the BICC from all racepoints out to Barcelona at 700+ miles. Yet again a fancier who has been at the top for more than 40 years and is still going strong.
13. W. Llewellyn. The very best of the Southwells from one of the GGDC’s most well respected members.
14. D. Smith. Dave is a double Welsh National winner on the north road and has been amongst Cardiff’s most successful fanciers for nearly 30 years now.
15. C. Neale. Yet another top Cardiff loft.
16. D. Rawlings. Dai Rawlings has only just set up his own loft after competing in partnership for some years. No doubt he has been able to acquire some of his father John’s Lerwick National winning bloodlines!
17. A. Vincent. Andrew has taken the GGDC by storm over the past couple of seasons always finishing near the top of the results. He is most members’ tip for the top and if there is any justice Andrew is due a National win soon! Buy from a genuine, top class, back garden multi-purpose winning loft.
18. M. Parker. Mike Parker of Maesteg is a National winner with both the WSRNFC and BICC. His team of Serge Van Elsackers are second to none and can be relied on to turn in a good performance at club, Fed, Combine and National level both in land and cross channel.
19. Williams, Jeffreys & Sons. Another Maesteg loft that has enjoyed great success since returning to the sport . The 2009 season saw the partners win the Spanish Club of Wales. A loft with past success and a bright future.
20. J. Ludlam. John has been winning regularly for some time now and is always in the shake up whatever the distance. Purchasers will not be disappointed with introducing a bird or two from this loft.
21. Davenport & Roberts of Chirk. One of the top lofts in North Wales with no less than 13 x 1st section over the past few seasons in National and Classic racing with the BICC, NFC, BBC and WSRNFC. Add to these wins scores of first prizes from 50 to 500 miles at club, Fed and Combine level and you can’t possibly go wrong by introducing something from this up to the minute winning loft. The young bird on offer will be bred from Darren’s long distance bloodlines – he has recorded more than 20 birds to fly close on 700 miles in the past two seasons alone!!!
