1^st & 2^nd Open and Section for Mark McClure

For the second race of this season the East Down were scheduled to fly it from Thurles but this race point was not available so a change was made with the convoy of 5,000 plus birds returning again this week to Tullamore and once again the weather became the overall factor in deciding the liberation time . The forecast right up to Friday morning was not very encouraging for the chances of a liberation on Saturday but as time went on the forecast improved resulting in race marking taking place on Friday evening with the possibility of a release on the Saturday but it was not until 2pm that conditions were deem ed suitable for a release and the birds were away into a light NE wind which as the results show produced a much slower race than the previous week .

Pride of place with two together goes to Mark McClure of the Newtownbreda club for 1^st and 2^nd open 1^st & 2^nd West section with the next two also over in the West section with Ballylesson’s Cousins , McConaghie & Alberts 3^rd and Comber’s W& L Robinson 4^th . Topping the East section at 5^th open were the Cloughey lofts of Gordon Bros & Sons with B & J Donnan of nearby Portavogie 6^th open 2^nd East section . Nice to see J & T Rainey from the Belmont club who joined the Combine this year in the Open result . The open Section and nominated early birds were :
