Memories are made of this....
It’s funny but being sat here on December 31st has caused an old memory to stir, which may account for my strong will. Believe it or not I once had a pair of roller skates, my Nan brought them for me. She put them on my feet, helped me to stand and then literally pushed me along. It is experiences like this which have instilled within me a sense of fun and determination which I have transferred to my love of racing pigeons. As I put these first few lines down on paper we are a few days away from a new year and four months away from the start of the 2021 season. It’s hard to believe that 19 years have passed since I became fancier and I don’t regret it for one moment, you see to me pigeon racing is far more than a sport it is a way of life which has offered me a great deal of freedom which many in similar circumstances as myself never get the opportunity to experience. Thinking about it now perhaps this is the reason for my zealous zeal for all things pigeon.
A new year and racing season are a blank canvas on which we get the chance to write our destinies and let’s face it we could all do with things being a little brighter than 2020. Speaking of things being a little brighter, as ever Dad has been busy giving the interior of our breeding loft a freshen up with the paint brush and painted the fronts of the nest boxes in different colours, this gives our whole setup a more uniform look throughout .

All painted and ready to go
Once a few more jobs are done around the lofts, it will be time to turn our attention to the 2021 breeding season, this is an aspect of the fancy which I always enjoy as it always fills me with hope and excitement to see and hear the signs of new life within the lofts and you start to see the youngsters develop and no matter how hard you try we fanciers cannot help but pick a favourite which if nothing else goes to prove the deep bond between fancier and pigeon which helps make our sport so great.

Even the pigeons got into the festive spirit
There is always something to be thankful for and I am extremely thankful for the sport of pigeon racing which enriches my life on a daily basis. On the whole I am looking forward to 2021 as I may be able to leave the house once this vaccine is sorted out, well you have to laugh don’t you. To all, remember our sport is only what we make it and positivity goes a long way.
My fancier friends. from my family to yours, hope you have a happy new year and please enjoy your pigeons, make everyday count .

When I cant get to the pigeons the pigeons come to me, HAPPY NEW YEAR
